so, when I got my bunny he was 3 months old and I could’ve swore he was a chinchilla rabbit of some sort. but now he is one year and around 2 months old and he is only 3.6 pounds. and that is FAR too small for a chinchilla breed. could he be a dwarf or mini rex mixed with a chinchilla rabbit?

Can you post a picture? Where did you get him from (pet store, breeder, shelter)?

no, I don’t have any pictures on the computer… but he looks EXACTLY like a chinchilla rabbit except the 3.6 pounds…

Well, standard chinchillas breed standards on the low end of weight requirements is 5 pounds. So it’s entirely possible that he could be a runt or even mixed with a dwarf breed. Also, he may not have any chinchilla breed at all (american, standard or giant) as “chinchilla” is also used to describe coloring, in addition to type of breed.

If your basing it mostly on color, many many rabbits come in chinchilla color. My bunny Porky even gets that ring thing when you blow on his fur like a chinchilla breed, he’s more brown agouti colored though.

Isn’t chinchilla an agouti coloring? Just gray?

I agree, color doesn’t necessarily mean anything when it comes to breed. If your bunny came from a pet store or shelter, he is likely a mix of some sort and the chinchilla coloring just made it’s way in there.
