I have About a month ago I got a female french lop. She is roughly 3 months old. When I brought her home she was scared, obviously, but the sweetest thing. Over the past week she started getting aggressive. Biting me and head butting and growling. I try to avoid reaching in her pen since it is her territory but since she is not litter trained (she actually refuses to use the box no matter where I put it) I have to clean it all the time. This becomes difficult when she doesn’t come out of the pen. No matter how long I leave the door open she refuses to come out. If I make her come out she just goes back in as soon as I back away from her. I’ve tried everything I can think of when it comes to bonding but nothing seems to work. She’ll let me pet her on the forehead but she just looks mad about it. I don’t know what to do with her anymore. I don’t want to get rid of her but if I can’t bond and stop the biting I’m going to have to. Is this just a phase? Will it get any better after she gets fixed? Someone please help.

It does sound like hormonal behavior and probably will stop after she gets fixed + 4-6 weeks after.

Just incase, I think you should take her to the vet for a check up to make sure there is nothing wrong and upsetting her.

When it comes to bonding, I know you have said she is not litter trained, try opening the cage and sitting on the floor for a good while. Hopefully she will come out and then you can spend time with her. Don’t approach her and let her come to you.

My bunny Luna hates to be fussed over so I have to wait for her to come to me to be petted and groomed. Sometimes it is just their personalities.

Also I agree with manic_muncher, it will reduce after her opp but you have a while to wait until then.
