So I’m still not 100% sure if Hugo and Tohka are bondable. I was wondering if I should try to bond the two boys. I get really mixed signals from Hugo. He will run towards where Tohka is outside his cage with upright alert ears and up tail. Then try to bite Tohka’s nose through the bars. Then there will be times that they rest next to each other on other sides of the bars. I just worry that maybe Hugo would be happier being by himself after his spat with the Lovebirds. I’m not sure if Hugo would be happy by himself. How do you tell if a bun would happy on their own? It was really easy to tell with Skipper but it’s a lot harder to see with Hugo. =/ Hugo seems to be alternately on edge and okay with Tohka. I’m not sure if I should wait longer to see if they work out or try to foster a girl bun that one of them may like. Or hopefully both would like? Some input would be great.

Same sex bonds are just as possible as opposites, as long as both are neutered. You might want to try using a surrogate stuffed bunny for a while (see bonding section and other bonding posts) to get him used to Tohka’s scent for a while first. Take it slow – it may take weeks. Continue to be cautious, but there may be progress if they meet briefly in neutral territory.

Thanks RB. I just really worry that after his spat with the Lovebirds he wouldn’t want to be with a friend. I’ll try taking it slow (I’m totally okay with it, it took me a year to bond Skipper and Ian). And I feel bad about forcing Tohka on him. I wonder if it would just be better to let him choose his own friend.
