So I brought home Angstrom and Kisses last night.  He is a mini lop, weighing around 5-7lbs and she is unknown, weighing 10-12lbs.  I brought them home early ( I was supposed to pick them up at 6pm but I was called at 2:30 to come get them so I didn’t even have their cage set up!)  and came home and threw the cage together.  I didn’t even get their blanket on the bottom!  This morning, I am cleaning and setting up their cage.  They came to me as “litter trained with a few stray poops” which was no issue but there are more poos (15ish) outside the litter box than inside (5ish).  Is this marking because they are in a new place and the cage could possibly still smell like my departed rabbit?

Congratulations! I think it’s just being in a new place and sensory overload.

Okay, good to know. I’ll sweep them up and put them in their litter box seeing as I’m about to move the cage to it’s permanent position anyways. Thank you!

Also you may need a larger litter box with 2 especially if one is a larger size rabbit, so that is also something to keep in mind with a pair – the bigger the better (in my opinion) – I know they make larger size cat boxes and that is what I would consider.

They have a large cat box. It fits Kisses with about a 1.5″ space around her on the sides and 2.5″ front and back.

Ang is molting, is it normal for it to go all the way to the skin in some places?

The reason Sarita suggests a larger litter box is that pairs like to sit in the box together, possibly even flop out in it together, so it’s easier if your box can handle both of them. If there is only a few inches left with just her in it, I doubt it will fit them both comfortably so an upgrade may be needed.

Not sure about molting, as my buns are a rex and a 24/7 shedder, so they never have a huge blow out.

They were both in it this morning with room to spare. I guess she just loafs when she’s in it because it didn’t look like both would fit!
