I have a 6 year old dwarf lop recently it has become extremely hot outside he lives in the garden and his hutch is always left open as we have an enclosed garden He has been spending all day under his hutch in the shade but I am worried he is getting too hot. The other evening there was a thunder storm and unfortunately I think the gardener had locked him out of his hutch and when I went to check he was ok he running around the garden absolutely petrified as he couldn’t get in to his hutch for safety. When I managed to catch him he was soaking wet and grinding his teeth really loudly ever since then he has started grunting at me if I go near him’ this is something i have never heard him do. Could the thunder storm and the really hot weather be causing him to act this way? He has been eating normally etc but I have noticed his poos have become a lot smaller then usual as well. I’m just worried about him he’s never been the most friendly of rabbits but he’s never had a problem with me walking up to him or giving him a quick stroke now I’m to scared to even touch him in case he lunges at me.

        Any feedback is appreciated thanks.

I would bring him inside – it’s safer and rabbits do not tolerate heat well.
