Hi everyone, I’m new to this and was wandering if I could have some advice on the best type of stuff to put in my bunny litter tray. She is a young lion head (an indoor bun) I am currently using shredded paper as I red it’s one of the best things to use and my bun doesn’t mind it but is there any other cheap alternatives, I heard lavender wood shavings are okay but I am hesitant to use because of mixed reviews? If anyone could give me some advice that would be much appreciated from me and a happy bun.

          Welcome : )

Pelleted paper or pelleted wood are good litters.
You can also use the cat bags of Yesterday’s News (paper based litter). It’s cheaper then the one for rabbits but the same stuff.

Lots of people use wood stove pellets or horse stall bedding. These are a pelleted wood and can be very economical.

Avoid shavings unless they’re aspen shavings. Many types of shavings marketed for rabbits and other small animals can cause health issues.

Oh luckily I stopped using shavings a while ago then

Thank you, I’ll have a look for the paper pellets or wood pellets

I use the actual carefresh cage bedding on the litter tray because my Frank is litter trained and rarely poop outside the box. I put newspaper on the rest of the cage and a comfy mat for him to lay down. But I’d wait till your bunny is potty trained if you wanna do that. Its cheaper cuz you save tons on the bedding since you only have to use a little on the litter pan!

She too has material on one half and newspaper on other, my willow is litter trained too.
I’m just trying to find the best type of stuff to put in her litter tray that would be absorbent
I purchased some of those natural wooden pellets and see how that goes.
