My bun “Dax” is going on 8 years old now.  She’s always been a joy for me.  Unfortunately, up to about 2 months ago, she’s never been around or even seen another bunny.  Now that we have a place with enough room, we’ve added another bun to our family.  I know our newest bunny “Finnly” will have to get fixed when she reaches about 6 months. We are also considering getting a third.

         My questions are:

        1.  Is it ok to try to bond females?

        2.  Is the age difference going to be a problem?

        3.  Is Dax too old to be fixed?

        4.  Is having a third bun going to too much for the bunnies?

        5.  Should we get a male to make up our third?

Thanks in advance for any input,

           Sarge

          Welcome to the forums!
          1. It is fine to bond females, as long as both are fixed.
          2. No, age difference shouldn’t matter that much.
          3. As long as she is otherwise healthy, it is still safe to spay her. In older bunnies, it is advised to get blood work done before the operation just to check everything.
          4. Nope, three isn’t too many. I used to have a trio.
          5. It doesn’t matter, it’s best to just find a personality that would work with your current two. Gender doesn’t make much difference.
