So i have had Storm is a year old now and was neutered over a month ago, and have been thinking about getting him a friend.

I Have the money and space, but there are NO shelters near me =0 I’m At My grandmothers right now and have been doing alot of looking and things. The closet shelter is 2 hours, then 2 1/2,then 3.

So my Question is: Should I? Is It A good idea? I think I should but I want soom input please!

        Thanks——-Stormy Rabbits

It sounds like you could care for two bunnies, so if you want to get another bunny, go for it. However, don’t do it if the only reason you are doing it is for Stormy to have a buddy. He is fine on his own, only get another bunny if you want one.

My situation is similar, although I recently found a shelter about an hour away. I’m still torn about getting another, but recently at the moment against it. Why? We tried getting a second baby, and it didn’t work. They were both way too aggressive with each other, and with us when we smelled like the other bunny. So, I would say take your first one with you to pick out the second one if you can. My other concern is that our current bunny (an adult neutered male) has free run of the house and doesn’t destroy anything. I’m not sure I would get so lucky a second time. I thought before getting a second that I would just keep the second bunny confined to an xpen or a separate room if they didn’t get a long or was destructive. Now I have doubts. If I find a good female match for our current male, and they bond, but she is destructive, I doubt either of them would appreciate having the new one penned up most of the time. And I’ve learned free roaming + xpen/cage + major aggression just doesn’t work very well. I do not ever want to have to pen up our current male.

So I’m conflicted. All the books say bunnies are happier and healthier with a companion, and I would love a second bunny (more snuggles, more bunny to eat excess greens and produce garden compost) but I’m afraid the risks may be too great in our situation to justify it. If we do try it, I may try fostering first.

I wish you the best of luck!
