Think I know the culprit. Yesterday morning I filled my rabbit’s bowl with tap water as usual, and added some Johnson rabbit vitamin drops. In the evening the bowl was 1/3 full and I got a bit lazy going to the kitchen to fill it up. I topped it up with Evian bottle water which I drink from. Only problem was… I forgot I should have washed the bowl. So my rabbit ended up drinking the vitamin water all yesterday morning and night, and this morning I found several sludgy looking poop. I don’t mean soft poop. It’s not even round. Just looks like sludge. Think my rabbit’s had too much calcium or other minerals. I cleaned out the water bowl and filled it up with fresh tap water, cleaned the litter tray, and added a lot of fresh hay and gave my bun a Oxbow papaya fruit tablet to help with digestion. Just got home from work and her poops look more or less round again, but they look watery and soft. Should I wait until tomorrow to see if her poops are back to normal or bring her in to the vet?

I would stick with fresh water, hay and gentle greens and pellets for now. If the poops are getting better, unless they get worse, it looks like you know the culprit and have already helped.

I don’t think you need the added vitamin drops if you are giving her a well balanced diet. As long as she likes her hay daily, it will keep her regular. Greens and pellets will provide the supplemental nutrition she needs.

Some poops still look wet but she’s producing some hard round poops once again. I also changed from 6x 70ml scoops of Science Selective pellets per day to 4x 70ml scoops so she’d eat more timothy hay. 1x 70ml is roughly a handful. My rabbit’s about 7 months old now and haven’t displayed hormonal behaviour yet. Might wait until 9-12 months before reducing the pellets further.

It’s been a hot stuffy day. When I opened the windows there was a breeze of fresh cool air and she suddenly kept sneezing for 5-10 minutes. The sneezing’s stopped now after she’s adjusted to the sudden temperature change. It’s been so hot the water bowl’s been emptied within half a day instead of a full day and a bit.
