I have a new bunny, Charm, since my original two passed. I figured a replacement bunny would be great, because I had just spent all this time and money building a huge bunny mansion. (out of actual wood, carpet, nails. . . the old fashioned way)
Irony: I got Charm to not waste this massive cage. . . This cage is NOT going to work for Charm.   SO. . .

I have already ordered my NIC cubes and got the entire layout planned, they should be here tomorrow. I am ready to build a new and better suited cage.

I am stuck on the flooring. I planned to use linoleum, for easy cleaning and water proofing, but what should I do for traction? I can’t give Charm a blanket. . . he eats everything. (This was not a problem with my other two boys)
I’m really looking for ideas, maybe some way to have something removable and washable ON TOP OF the linoleum, that he might not eat? Is there such a product out there? Or, is there something I could do to to a rug or piece of carpet that might deter Charm from eating it? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time. =D

Also** side not here- charm likes to swim, i think. I’m not really sure what his end game is, but he is always knocking over and pulling down both water bottles and now he flips his auto-waterer bowl . . .  and stands in the puddle. . . he can’t be hot, he is in air conditioning. He just really likes to play with water, and flood my room in the process.  So what ever i do put down must be removable so i can wring it out.

Hay woven mats! He can nibble on it and it gives traction. Or another i have heard of that gives more traction is untreated sea grass mats, also completely edible.
As for his love of water, sounds like he likes tossing things around! Maybe use a ceramic dog water bowl as it is much tougher for him to flip it and soak up your place. And add a few toys to his area for entertainment and for him to toss about!

Yes, that was exactly the type of thing I was looking for! Thank you.

As for toys, he has plenty. His favorite is the wicker ball. . . He likes to pu it in water. He doesnt flip everything, just the water bowl. And he has pulled a hanging bottle down that was outside the cage. I really think he just likes water. He likes to sit or lay in it.

              You’re welcome!
Hehe Charm sounds like a cutie, he really does love getting soaked! Looks like he won’t stop his swimming. :p Maybe have a second container for him to sit in, and have the sea grass mat under it so he can dry off a little when his done with his bunny swim.

I use this for Al’s 4×8 xpen.  LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It is pricey, but Al cannot destroy it and it provides great traction.  Easy to clean too.

I zip tied (after I punched a few holes with a leather puncher) the NIC grids to the perimeter.  IT was so hard to punch through, which is why I knew it would be hard for Al to chew through. I’ve had it for several months now and it is really awesome.

                Here is a pic…
