I just got Coco a new Lucerne based litter, it is also composed of bentonite and limestone (Animates Natural Cat Litter). Thinking it would be better than his old litter (OZ- Pet) as that one clumps quite a bit.

Animates- Lucerne based, smells like hay, small like food pellets, very absorbent, great odour control, no clumps.

Oz-Pet- Waste plantation timber, 3-5x size of food pellets (Giant pellets), good absorbency, ok odour control, clumps like a boss.

I started using Animates last night and only just realised he is happily chomping away on them. He even prefers to munch on these than his treats! Instantly removed it and he went grumpy bun on me . Replaced it with his remnant OZ-Pet litter only, and his rummaging through to find the Animates litter now!

Is it harmful for him to eat the Lucerne based litter? He loves OZ-Pet as his litter, does not dig up anything and in fact loves to rest in it. But i am concerned about the clumping as he does do sniffs here and there after a wee. And i have tried putting a bit of hay in his litter pen but he refuses to eat in the same container as he does his deeds.

May i please have suggestions on bunny litter brands? I live in Sydney, Australia. :/

        Thank you!!

There is a page on here and I got the link for you

          https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/5/PID/940/Default.aspx

If that doesnt work just go to the top of the page where it says Bunny Info, then click on litter Training, on that page under The “Prepared” litter box it lists a few litters for you.

Have a look in KMart in the pet section (It’s on the bottom shelf near the cat litter here in Perth)… They have bags of very short bedding hay, a bit like mini bales but it is intended for bedding and litter. Put a nice hay rack up and sit the tray with the litter hay next to it so he can chew and poo. I would also dispense with both of your current litters… One of mine has standard cat litter but it is in a covered tray so it cannot be accessed for a munch. The rest just like a big kitty litter tray with newspaper and hay.. If I give them anything else it gets tossed about with gay abandon.

If it’s not there check with your local stock feeders for mini bales… It would probably be cheaper in the long run anyway… They are about 18 inches square and about 4 inches thick. The hay is cut into short lengths and bound in a flat bundle.
