We are going to be getting Neat Idea Cubes for our 2 Holland lops, Gizmo and Thumper. But we dont know how many squares we need? We want a good cage that can fit them both comfortable. If possible we would like some pics. of yours to see how big they are and what they look like!

You can go on google images and type in “Bunny Condo”. There are also cage ideas here. You can look at some by clicking “Bunny Info” then “Housing”.
The reccomend space for one rabbit is, the rabbit can hop across the cage at least 3 times, flop out in any direction, and stand on hind legs and not hit the ceiling. So double that if you have 2 rabbits.
You can make a condo with the reccomended size of 1 rabbit and then make a run to attach to it. I tried a condo with my bunnies, but they hated it and much prefered an x-pen.

Amazon has sets that make four cubes, and sets that make six. I’d suggest it’s probably worth your while to get the largest possible. Remember that you can use a corner of the house to substitute as two sides of the enclosure.

I completely agree with Mocha’s calculations. If you google “rabbit enclosure calculator” you’ll be able to get some good ideas. There is no actual calculator, unfortunately.

For two bunnies the recommended cage size 16 sq ft (4′ X 4′). Each cube panel is 14″ X 14″. So 4 panels X 3 panels (and at least 2 panels tall) would be 4.66′ X 3.5′ equaling about 16.31 sq ft. It would take 36 cube panels (including a top) to make.

The 6 cube set has about 23 cube panels and on Amazon it’s about $29.99 ($1.30 a panel).

I bought my grids on craigslist but another member here has mentioned this site:
                  http://www.storesupply.com/pc-12196-518-14-x-14-black-mini-grid-panel-30103.aspx

Where they are .95 a grid. You could get 36 for $34.20.

I used two boxes of the BB&B ones to make Porky’s original 3 story condo. I can’t remember where or how many boxes I got for his front porch extension. It seems to be 30 grids though.

If you search the forum, there are many condos made by posters.

I poked around the website a bit.  The baskets that go with the grids would make perfect hay racks.

Why does every website recommend a different amount of space per bun?  I see 4 x 4 a lot, but 2 x 6 also.  I also see 2 x 3 and 3 x 3.  It seems as if you have to measure your rabbit and his or her hops to determine the proper amount of space required.

Make sure to use the panels with the smaller amount of space between each box, as bunnies tend to get their heads stuck in the larger squares.

The set I found at Wal Mart had 3″ squares for cheaper than the set I found at another store with 1″ squares.    Probably costs less to have fewer bars.

Do the 1 inch. Your bunnies will get their heads stuck with 3 inch.

Yes!  That’s what I was trying to imply– the 3″ ones are no good.
