My rabbit is female, spayed, around 4 years old. Around 6 months ago I noticed her tail and backside were wet with urine. I had recently got her a new box with a grate over the carefresh so I thought maybe that was causing some splash back. I removed the grate, but  she was still having a wet bottom and dribbling pee all over the apartment. I brought her to the vet who said he thought it was perhaps diarrhea (his urine is quite dark) and gave him an antibiotic that would take care of any gut problems (I was quite skeptical as I thought it was urine, but he has been practicing for a very long time). After this the condition worsened. Now she was drinking almost the whole water bottle in a day and urinating way more than usual. One day it seemed to me she was in quite a bit of pain (lethargic, laying down, not able to get comfortable, teeth grinding) and also could not control bowels or urine, so I brought her back to the vet and saw the other vet there who offered a urine and blood test and that it may be a uti. They determined the white cell count was quite high and that there was likely an infection somewhere and put her on zithromax and gave me some anti inflammatory pain med. She seemed to improve, and the white cell count came back normal after completing the antibiotic. but after a few weeks started dribbling urine on a daily basis again, and showing signs of pain. I asked for the same meds, but when things didn’t improve as quickly I brought her back to the vet. We did x-rays and found no kidney or bladder stones and no signs of arthritis. The vet offered to send off a urinalysis but that came back with no bacteria. The vet said perhaps this is a recurring kidney infection and the antibiotics had cleared the bladder but not the kidney. Right now we are going through 2 months of zithromax, but the rabbit is still dribbling. I am very worried about urine scald and try to keep her as clean and dry as possible, but I feel as though I can’t keep up. I can’t help but think that this vet has no idea what is going on and that going back is a complete waste of money. I have already spent over $1000 in the last 6 months and I cannot afford to continue with the very expensive testing for no answers. Not to mention, the urine dribble is completely ruining my apartment. This rabbit is quite the nibbler and no matter how much we bunny proof, she gets in to all kinds of things she shouldn’t. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going on?? Other than dribbling, the rabbit seems generally normal, but has days or times when seems to be in more pain or is pooping more/pellets more moist than usual. She is still trying her best to keep everything in her box, but the dribble is every where. Please please help me. I don’t know what to do anymore and I am scared to think what I may have to do if we cannot find answers.

Hi Pablosmommy! I saw your post, along with Sarita’s, in my old thread. I am so sorry for what you are experiencing. Derby’s condition continued to improve after I posted. Within a few weeks he was fit as a fiddle, and is still. It may have been the Meloxicam or the fact that I gave him a cranberry a day, but to be honest I think it was the fact that I bought a rug for the hardwood floors in my house. I am not sure if that made him physiologically comfortable or just psychologically so, but it seemed to do the trick. I also bought him a memory foam bed. That whole experience is still a mystery to me, but I hope you get a similar outcome.
