i woke up this morning to the sound of her chewing on something. turns out she was eating her plastic litterbox. the piece is about 1″ x 1/2″. called the vet but he’s not in today. his associates are but they don’t work with exotics. they gave me an emergency vet’s number. i called them and explained what happened. basically they said there’s no telling how things will go right now so just keep an eye on her and call back if i see her looking ill. right now she’s eating lettuce and kale and playing in my room. she looks perfect.

does anyone have any experience with this? there’s nothing i can do but wait it out i guess.

Lots of hay, fresh water and greens…. Clean tray so you can monitor poop.

I am not a vet BUT…I’ve seen a lot of rabbits eat/chew a lot of weird things and she will probably be absolutely fine. Keep and eye on her, but I don’t think you need to expect the worse…oh dear the things they get into!

Small chewed off bits of plastic almost always just pass through. Porky ate a treat bowl about 2 years ago.

12 hours later and she’s still perfectly normal, thank goodness. if something was wrong it would’ve happened by now, right?

eepster, omg! i would’ve freaked out!

Yep, he is probably fine now, but just keep your eye on him for a bit still. Bunnies eat odd things. Maybe a metal litter tray?

Calamine should be okay. =] And don’t worry! When I got Ian the rescue informed me that when he gets bored or antsy he’ll nom on his litter box. I didn’t believe them until they showed me his litter box that he was using. Sure enough the edge of it was missing. Let’s just say that boy has an iron stomach.
