Okay So I went to my grandparents house and my grandpa is sick with the respiratory flu! Is this contagious to rabbits?!? Because I read that some flus are!?! And we talked to a pharmacist And he said it was VERY contagious! Is it contagious to rabbits? because I will probably get it and I am the only one to take care of Theo and if I am sick he would probably have a BIG chance of getting it!

        Thank You,

        Anne

I don’t know, but I doubt it. I would simply call my vet and ask. That’s a quick question with a yes or no answer, and I doubt any vet wouldn’t tell you over the phone. You could also email your vet.

Oh no! I hope your grandfather feels better (and you DON’T get it!)

I don’t believe it should be contagious to your bun, but it’s a good recommendation to ask your vet just in case. In the meantime, if you want to be cautious, practice good hygiene when handling/feeding your bun. Wash your hands before and try to minimize spreading germs around.

But I’m still thinking that the bun should be okay.

Another thing to think about is while she is likely not able to get it, rabbits can very easily carry germs, so if someone who is ill touches him, then another person touches her, the flu can be spread that way. So definitely make sure to wash your hands before and after touching him, for his safety and yours.
I hope you all get better soon!
