        Hey everyone!
About a year ago, I spontaneously and impulsively purchased a baby lion head after seeing the cutest picture on Craigslist. After a year together, I consider it the BEST $15 I’ve ever spent.
Now, I’ve looking to purchase a new pet. I’ve been planning on getting a kitten, after reading how well cats and bunnies can do together, I thought that would be a great idea, especially considering I’ve never gotten Stella fixed (he’s a 16 month old male). I honestly just never considered the idea of getting him fixed – much less adopting another rabbit – but a few days ago, I encountered the most ADORABLE 2 month old baby black female lion head at my local pet store. I’ve gone back to visit the little girl every day since, and am heavily considering changing my new kitten plan to adopting her into my home.
I’ve held off though, knowing this can get me in trouble. Obviously, I’d soon have more baby bunnies then I could handle on my hands!
I’m curious, with yalls wealth of experience, which route I should go. I’m young – early 20s – which really limits mine and my buns living space to one room. I work about 50 hours a week, which would limit the observation time I know is required with introducing 2 bunnies. At 16 months, can I even still get my rabbit fixed, or would it be a terribly traumatic experience for him? And does anyone know which pairing typically causes a smoother transition – bun and kitty, or a male and female pair of buns? Would I eventually be able to let both my bunnies out to play together unsupervised? I do have a large bunny cage, but took it down about a month ago in favor of letting Stella go free reign another great decision! Also, my current baby is really mellow – no problems with chewing, absolutely no aggressive behavior – but he’s also quite shy, and not near as social with me as I would like :'( I’m lucky to get an ear rub or two in before off he goes! Would finding him a companion change his behavior? And if so, is it more likely to make him a little more brave and social, or more curious and troublesome? And considering they wouldn’t be supervised 24/7, would getting a kitty companion be asking for trouble?
Sorry for the tons of questions! I don’t know any other bunny owners so I don’t really know where to go for help, but you guys seem to be a very knowledgeable, kind and helpful group thanks for the assistance, and simply for reading my long, random essay!

At 16 months, can I even still get my rabbit fixed, or would it be a terribly traumatic experience for him?——- Yes, you can fix them at about any age. But, I DO NOT reccomend fixing an OLD rabbit(over 7 years) but that is just my personal feelings about it.

And does anyone know which pairing typically causes a smoother transition – bun and kitty, or a male and female pair of buns?——— I only have one bun right now, but some relatives are visiting and brought their 2 kittens. The kittens were more scared of the bun then the other way around, but it all really depends on your bun, and the animal you bring into your home.

Would I eventually be able to let both my bunnies out to play together unsupervised?——– YES! Their are some members on here with 7 bonded buns, so it is possible.

Would finding him a companion change his behavior?——- Again, it all depends. Your rabbit could find more courage when he has a partner, and want more love from you. OR, he will find more comfort in the new bun and rely on her/him for attention.

And if so, is it more likely to make him a little more brave and social, or more curious and troublesome?——– It’s hard to tell, especially since I don’t personally know your bunny.

And considering they wouldn’t be supervised 24/7, would getting a kitty companion be asking for trouble?——— Well, kittens on their own can cause a lot of trouble, knocking things over, getting in to stuff and so on, so until they are grown you need to be aware of that. I have 2 cats of my own, though they aren’t bonded to my bun. (The were gotten first.) But kittens are very curious.

          Hopefully this helps!
