I had Orion out in his playpen today and my mom’s boyfriend walked into the room and he went berserk. He ran back and forth and into the pen panels and moved them, then my brother grabbed him and took him into my room while he was still freaking out, so I put him on the floor and let him hop into his cage himself. Poor little guy, I’m not sure what spooked him, but he’s still rather upset by it! He hid in his cardboard house for a couple of hours and came out a little bit ago. I’ve got his cage covered with some blankets so he feels a little more secure. I hope he feels better about this whole ordeal tomorrow. Also, I guess I need to figure out a way to keep the panels secure on the carpet, because he’s strong enough to move them!

How is your bunny today? As prey animals, bunnies can definitely be easily startled.

I’ve gotten into the habit of speaking prior to entering the room, like as I’m walking into it, so it gives Bumpy the head’s up that I’m heading that way. I’ve startled him a couple times before and it’s terrible to see them so afraid like that.

Bumpy also likes to redecorate and change the shape of his pen too.

My goodness, the amount of times I’ve woken up at 3/4am and it’s still dark and not wanting to turn a light on to wake anyone else up – I have literally walked into/kicked Henry in the hallway or bedroom doorway, giving myself and him a HUGE fright! We both get over it – eventually….

He’s doing fine today, I just got home and put him out in the playpen again. No worse for the wear, and no obnoxious loud people home to barge into the room and spook him.

Glad he is doing fine now. Bunnies have poor eyesight so sometimes they don’t see something quite right and they get spooked. It happens.

Lol my rabbit freaked out yesterday. I was doing some cleaning, moved a empty cardboard box with the top lid folded on the floor, and she jumped on it… half way falling in but wouldn’t fall completely in. She kept trying to run, flopping around like a fish on dry land. Ahahahahahahaha! Soon as I grabbed her butt and she had my hand as leverage, she managed to jump back onto the floor. Ran back to litter tray to $*&! herself out of fear but acted normal after that.

When Cotton panics like that Running himself into things I catch him by hand or with a towel and pet talk to and hold him a little til he clams and let him go.   They just need to feel safe.   Putting a towel on his cage definitely helps too.

I hate to see them run themselves into things.   Happens tho.  Cotton doesn’t do it lately.  Seems better to catch them up with a towel instead of hands.

Talking to let them know you are coming helps a lot.  The strangest things can startle them into panic attack mode.

Thunder lightning electricity popping off   on  off on etc.  Fireworks  and other stuff as well.  Cotton got used to it I had to catch him up in a towel.  He learned it won’t hurt him so he doesn’t panic over it anymore.  Maybe after a bit of time your bunny will learn its ok not to panic too.

Also cooking noises and odors  chainsaws anything noisy etc.  Each bunny is different
