I’m not sure if I’m in the right place but here goes my situation/question. I recently (1 1/2 week ago) got a new holland lop bun from the petstore. Before i got my new bunny i was already searching breeders in my state so i could get a purebred baby holland lop at around 8 weeks old. I happened to find a bun which happens to be a mini lop and will be ready June 21st (Saturday). i have already put the deposit down on the mini lop. I really had my heart set on a holland lop so when i saw this bun at the petstore we had to get him. Now im worried about getting the other bunny. Thumper is already enough lol. He is perfect! Will adding another but harmful to the two? Will i just be able to put them together? they are both young will they fight? I dont know the in’s and out’s on adding rabbits so i need help. Thumper will be going to the vet for his first check up in two weeks. i know he is young he’s no more than 3-4 months old or maybe younger. and the mini lop will be 8 weeks old saturday. dont know the sex of the mini yet. Please help with any advice or experiences.

It can be done… Neutering, spaying is vital prior to bonding… Preserve a neutral zone in preparation and give them time to adjust to their new circumstnaces before putting them together… Develop a bonding strategy.

Ok! So I won’t be able to house them together when/if I get the mini lop? Or will I have to wait until they are neutered/spayed? They are still young so I’d have to wait months…

That is correct – they both need to be altered before you start bonding – you did mention as well anyway that you are unsure of the sex of the new rabbit.

I will say that bonding can be very stressful if you’ve never bonded before and many times people just give up – you might get lucky though and it’s an easy bond.

If not, you have to be prepared for 2 rabbits housed separately indefinitely.
