Bugs has now done this weird things twice. He freezes and starts shaking an chis eyes get big and his head kind of twitches, When he’s doing this he lets me pick him up which is something he NEVER lets me do, I hold him until it stops and then he jet bounces back up? Does anyone know if something’s wrong with him or is this normal?

Is it a binky or a head binky? Otherwise I’m not entirely sure what you are describing.

I don’t think it’s a binky, His nose also sounds like this:

It sounds to me like he is getting spooked by something. Can you think of anything in your home that might scare him?

Okay now I’m VERY Worried! Bugs has done it again this time it was as bad as the first time, This time I got a short video of what happens, This lasted at least a minute after it happened it chattered his teeth for less than a minute then hopped off as if nothing even happened

whoa. I have no idea what that is. It’s good that you caught that on video. By your initial description I had not even come close to visualizing anything like that. Hopefully with this video others may be able to offer some insight. Maybe send the link to your vet to see what they say?

Perhaps it is the nurse in me thinking medical issue, but it kind of looks like a seizure. Personally, I would definitely take a trip to the vet and be sure to show the video(s).
A few years back I owned a dog that would do something similar, it turned out that it was seizures and a daily med regimen (1 small pill) resolved the issue completely.
Sending good vibes your way. Good luck and keep us posted.

I was thinking seizure as well, but the getting back up after falling over part and to repeat the same motion, I wasn’t sure. I’ve seen dogs have seizures, but they’ve been quite different. Agreed, please keep us updated.

About possible seizures, there are several different types from tonic-clonic, petit mal, and grand mal to name a few. Each has it’s own fairly distinct characteristics. There are usually signs after called a post-ictal state which is present in humans it can be marked by what seems like confusion or uncoordination.
Does your bun display that afterward?
Those types of symptoms are not always present with animals. I am not familiar with the symptoms of rabbits.

Although, I can say that when my dog had the seizures it would begin with the shaking and then she would attempt to walk or regain control and would fall down and attempt to get back up which resulted in running face first into whatever was in her path, once we realized that we gently held her in place but allowed her body to continue the convulsions until they’d finished as holding the body immobile can put undue stress on the affected muscles and cause further injury.
Just after her seizures she would experience a post-ictal state for only a two or so minutes, where she seemed to walk with diminished coordination and often tended to walk in a particular path, in her case it was toward the right.
So the falling over and getting back up could be possible with rabbits as well.

Are you able to tell if your bun is grinding the teeth (a clenched jaw is common in humans) or if there is any, even slight, uncoordination immediately after the shaking?

I am very experienced with human seizures through my profession, and have observed some with both my dog and a dog that belonged to my best friend-both of which displayed similar symptoms.
I cannot say for certain that these symptoms also apply to rabbits or suggest that it is the case with your bun. Just share my experiences.
I do strongly suggest a visit with your vet. If the behavior continues your bun could be injured or worse. Ease your worries and better to be safe that sorry, as I’ve learned very specifically in my nursing practice as well as life in general.
I hope your Bugs gets well soon!

I think siezure too. I’ve seen both human and cat. The cat was pretty different from human seizures I’ve seen, so bunny being somewhat different from human wouldn’t be surprising.

Omg… From your initial post I was thinking seizure, but actually seeing it breaks my heart. I feel like crying after seeing your poor bun bun. I hope you can get your bun into a vet soon to see what they can do. =(

Update: We went to the vet and she was really awesome! She said it could be a Ear infection or something else I can’t remember what she called it so she’s prescribed us with 2 medicines so hopefully Bugs will be on the road to recovery! I just wish my dad would stop nagging me about the cost.

Well so far after being on the meds it seems the seizures are going down they aren’t as full blown as the one in the video, they are now just shaking a bit but they pass quickly I’m hoping with the meds they will stop all together. He also loves the Meds, I don’t actually even have to wrap him up in a towel or anything as he takes them so willingly, All I have to do is put the syringe through the cage bars and he takes it

Hello everyone! I haven’t really updated anyone on how Bugs has been doing, Well since my last update after being off the meds the seizures started up again, So we went back to the vets she gave us the same medicine but at a higher dose. She’s hoping it will go away within a month if it doesn’t we’ll have to go back and try something else I guess. The vet also said if he can stop the seizures for a month we can get him neutered, so i’m really really hoping they stop!
