        Hi all!

        Here’s the situation:

Frodo got neutered recently so there is no more danger of getting baby bunnies! All went well and Frodo is now a very laid back lil guy.

        But…

Arya hasn’t been spayed yet because I want to wait untill she is fully grown because it is a more invasive procedure. She’s 5 months old now and she has been showing some teenaged territorial top bunny behaviour: she’s humping Frodo.

        Now…

Should I stop her doing this when I see it happening? Or should I just let it happen?

They still love each other, flop next to each other, give each other kisses, etc…

        Thanks for the advice!

How recently exactly was Frodo neutered? Because sperm can still be viable for up to a month after the neuter….

Okay, as for humping, rabbits hump for a variety of reasons – excitement, dominance, etc…and spaying or neutering isn’t always going to stop this behavior. That being said, if Frodo is tolerating it, then you should just let it be – they will work this out on their own if there is a problem.

            Thx Sarita! That was fast!
That’s what I was thinking but just wanted to be sure. Frodo runs away from it sometimes and sometimes he lets her.
Frodo was neutered exactly one month and two days ago. We were very careful about the seperation and re-introduction because I didn’t want to take any risks.

I don’t usually disagree with Sarita but I suggest separation.

Bonding is really best after both rabbits are spayed/neutered. Hormones make rabbits unpredictable and amplify dominant/territorial behaviors. A bad experience now could delay bonding much longer than keeping them separated until 4 weeks after her spay.

I agree that it would be best to for them to be separated. Because Arya isn’t spayed, it could make her very unpredictable and possibly dangerous to Frodo.
