Hello fellow bunny lovers! I just have a quick question for all (or any) of you. I’ll keep it short, but quickly, tonight my big boy freaked out and I was wondering if any of your bunnies ever did this. So I had Deo in his cage for the night and was letting Kittei hop around for a bit like I usually do. A shadow of some sort went from my bathroom door to the other side of my hallway and Kittei took off into my bedroom while at the same time Deo darted so fast across his cage that he broke through the entire side of it and seriously ran behind my couch so fast he was big brown blur. Now Kittei is in his cage for the night and Deo and is pacing back and forth in front of the hallway thumping and ears are going in every direction frantically. When I lay next to him his tail goes up and he grunts at me. Is this normal? It would be quite comical in slow motion I’m sure. So, just curious here lol.

Sometimes they just get spooked by random stuff. Mine do this too.

Yes it may happen on occassion.  Cotton will run himself into things I have to throw a towel over him to catch him.  I then hold him and calm him down.   Try holding your frightened bunny and calming it.  See if that helps.

They get frightened over things sometimes.  Sounds like your bunny in the cage is like Cotton and bangs himself into things.

Oh you may try putting a towel over his cage with a little space open see if that calms him.

            Hope this helps

I’ll be the one to sound nutty here.
So, you’re saying your buns saw a spirit and they were afraid? Seems legit. Animals usually notice those things fairly easy and get scared. No worries. Just try to calm them down.

Yea!! Frodo did that once. He just got spooked and just ran into the lil sleep section of his condo and started stamping his foot. I was like totally upset about it, even made a forum post. And Arya didn’t have the same reaction as Frodo but she just sat quietly in a corner.

                So weird!!

I don’t know what Deo saw, whether it was a reflection of a car pulling in the parking lot or if he saw what my kids always claim to see. Thank you all for your advice on ways to calm Deo down. He had me worried, and I never thought of the towel. I just tried to lay with him and talked to him. He eventually calmed himself down, but only after my hubby came home and talked with him. They seem to a stronger bond than Deo and I have. If there is a next time I will use the towel. Thanks!!
