        Hello,

I recently posted that my rabbit had a scratch under her eye. Well I went in yesterday, and now she has little red patches of missing hair both above and below her eye! Her bonded friend I know likes to groom by her eye, and it is obvious he is grooming her too hard. Any suggestions how I can stop this?

I’m having the same problem with one of my girls over grooming every bunny… Her daddy Piglet now has a bald spot near his nose as well as a complete lack of eyelashes… I’ve checked every one for mites etc but that doesn’t seem to be a problem so I can only assume the noise from the neighbours front yard construction is adding to Blossoms anxiety which is causing her to groom every one stupid. Blossom even managed to groom a bald spot on Nermals face through the Xpen.

All that I can recommend is to get a stuffed bunny, and when you see excessive grooming, try to redirect it to the stuffy. Redirection and distraction usually work best, at least for me.

              **UPDATE**
I think I have figured out that the cause of the overgrooming is boredom. So….I made them a few cardboard boxes, which I going to try and do something new with every couple of days (ie. fill them with hay, put them at the end of a tunnel, etc) What do you think?

I suppose it could be because of boredom. Either way, it couldn’t hurt. And cardboard boxes are fun!
