Stickers has (thankfully) been better since the last round of Baytril. But, her personality has … well, completely changed.

When I put my hand down, she runs over to be pet right along with Powder (which, petting two rabbits with one hand is tricky!), instead of being skittish and stand offish.

She has started using her litter box well and I RARELY have to clean their floor now (as opposed to constant cleaning and 3x a day wiping up pee from the floor).

She hasn’t been chewing things she shouldn’t as much. She might take the occasional nibble of carpet, but now Powder is being worse than she is about chewing. Which is weird, she was such a destructive destroy-everything rabbit.

She hasn’t been grunting/snorting as much when I do something she disapproves of. Cleaning their litter boxes also no longer gets me nipped.

She’s eating A LOT more hay.

I’m a bit confused as to why she’s done a complete change of how she acts, just because her URI is cleared up? I’ve had her for years, she’s always been the destructo-attitude rabbit. Usually I would say she’s not sick anymore so isn’t lashing out, but I doubt she could have been sick for 3 years without showing symptoms more than 3 times?

I mean, I am not going to look a gift bunny in the mouth. I can actually relax and do something other than chase rabbits around getting them out of trouble. And since she’s not being a bad influence, Powder is behaving better too. But, it’s just so weird!

After having a chat with a vet friend of mine, we figure that amazing as it sounds she may well have been ill for three years without showing many symptoms. You have to remember that they are prey animals, and its the sick animals that get picked off, so rabbits NEVER try to show weakness if they can. Maybe she has been under the weather until now and you’re finally seeing her true personality? Either way, I’m glad shes better and behaviour is improving!

It’s possible that it is the combination of feeling better and being older. I hope it does continue for you :~)

Thanks. I hope it does too. It’s so odd to have her not running away from me every time I come around her though lol I feel like I should be looking for the pod that is housing my actual rabbit…

I have no idea, but regardless, it’s a great thing!

That is pretty weird. Maybe her illness was a life changing situation and she vowed to be the perfect bunny from now on. Glad she is feeling good.

Haha “I will be a good bunny from now on if you just let me get better, I promise!”
