Hello my name is Zach I just moved up to Jacksonville from Daytona Beach FL but enough about me. Now the real reason I came here is to talk bunny haha I just got a Holland Lop which for the time being I’ve named Bunbun (original I know) since I don’t know much about this little one yet. I mentioned to a friend in Georgia that I moved closer so we could hangout often as a new house present bought me Bunbun, I’m an animal lover so I accepted the challenge of bunhood and so far It’s been pretty good but prepare for the questions of a new owner but first pictures!

(I know the first is a normal resting position but is the second one OK to or not just started laying like that today should I be worried?)

Now the kicker (no pun intended) to my story is I was told this little one is only 5 weeks old, does Bunbun look that young? I know that’s not a simple question but I’m worried about the well being of him/her. Reading around I know It’s quite young and could face major troubles. I’ve had him/her for 3 days total now and no strangeness, very curios, seems like a happy and energetic bunny with a mischievous side (the food bowl can’t remain in the same spot for long). As I’m typing this Bunbun is running in and out his/her cage and doing a few binkys on my counter also playing with a wood ball I got today that has a bell in it

Sorry this was long for whoever read it! I’m a talkative person and it shows in forum posts… Too much.

          Welcome! I

I think looking at your pictures he doesn’t look 5 weeks-maybe more like 8-10. It’s hard to know, but he looks about the right age!

Both pictures are very normal laying positions one is a flop and the other is a loaf A full flop is scary to witness the first time you see it-at least it was for me, they go running and just stop and throw themselves on their side, and will sometimes roll on their back, then lay their on their side! I remember being very worried the first time I saw it! But it’s very normal happy behaviour-just a heads up-I’m sure you’ll witness it

            Hello and Welcome!

Your pics didn’t show up but I think it’s because you used the IMG code instead of the html code. In photobucket you want to use this one:

Super cute! He looks older than 5 weeks to me but I’m not an expert by any means. It wouldn’t hurt to find an exotic vet and get him a well visit and a fecal test. Those are always a good idea when you bring home a new bunny.

              Hello and Welcome!
Your bunny is adorable, I agree he is likely older than 5 weeks.
Don’t worry about being talkative-we will listen!

Fixed the pictures thanks MD. I feel better about Bunbun’s age now but I’m in another panic attack… Yesterday I saw he/she had a little bit of a runny nose and I thought it would clear up today but It’s still runny and he/she is getting his/her nose all snotty now from grooming. Researching the issue I see It’s handled different ways and can mean many things but it can be cured right…? Looking for a good rabbit veterinarian near my area no luck yet tho.

Welcome to you and your super cute BunBun!!!!!

You’re right, a runny nose can be caused by several things such as an upper respiratory infection or bacteria such as Pasteurella.

Here is a list of Bunny vets in Florida from House Rabbit Society. Not sure how near Jacksonville is to any of them.
