I have a six year old Rex and I’m afraid her cage is to small. She’s not super active and likes to stretch out. It’s not super big and its really hard to clean. I want something easy to clean and just the right size for her to be comfy but not take up to much room in my house.  I’m racking my brain trying to figure out something better. Any ideas/ suggestions will help.

        Thanks

          Welcome to BB!

The minimum recommended cage size for a single small-medium sized rabbit is 4ft X 2ft (8sq ft). How big is the current cage?

Some popular habitat choices are X-Pens and NIC Condos. If you want to see examples of lots of different habitat types check out the habitat gallery

I would say x-pens would be the easiest to clean, but NIC condos are very easy to customize to fit the space. Definitely check out the habitat gallery like MD said.

Well I think it’s about 1.5ftx2ft. Like I said not very big. She’s about a foot long when she’s sitting. I hoping to get something she can roam around in.

1.5 ft X 2 ft is definitely much too small. I should mention that even the 4 ft X 2 ft is the minimum requires out of cage time. For a rabbit to never have to be let out they would need something like 24 sq ft of space.

I let her out four about 4 hours every day. Her previous owner had told me she was hardly ever let out because there was to much for her to get into. She’s been really happy to play. I’m pretty sure I’m getting a larger cage soon. Something she should move around in. Thanks for the help.
