        Hi guys!

I know I’m being an anxious first time bunny mom, but I wanted to double check a routine Merlin and I have gotten into?

Every morning he wakes me up at around 8 (it used to be earlier but with a system of clapping I’ve persuaded him mom does NOT like to be woken up at 5!!) I let him out of the cage and he has breakfast. He runs around his play area and explores the room, there’s usually lots of binkying and its about this time I set out his toys. He eats, then at about 12-1 he settles in his favourite spot (under my desk.) for a long nap.

This is what worries me! He is a flat bunny for most of the day, he’s always in the ‘loaf’ position so seems really relaxed. He occasionally wakes up to groom himself but he’s pretty much conked out until about 7 when he perks up again for dinner and more playing. I think I’m just worried he’s bored or depressed, sleeping so much? Or do I just have a very chilled out rabbit?

Rabbits are crepuscular. This means they are active at dawn and dusk. My rabbits are the same way and it is perfect for my schedule. I am a teacher so I am gone during their sleeping time. I feed them salads in the morning, change water, add hay and go to work. I get home, let the bunnies out for about 3 hours each, feed them pellets an hour before bed, put them away and sleep. They used to try to wake me up early, but they got used to the schedule. If I throw them off schedule they get back into the bad habit of chewing on bars to wake me up early. Your rabbit is fine

Thanks so much! Yeah, I work nights some days of the week so it actually works well for me because it means we’re generally asleep at the same time! Cheeky little thing has even come up on bed to nap with me sometimes. thanks for reassuring

Ah. I wish mine could come in the bedroom, but we have a playful kitten now that we don’t trust around the bunnies until he grows out of his latching onto anything that moves phase. Trying to bond the bunnies, then I will introduce the cat into the mix.

Perfectly normal. My buns are most energetic (and destructive) early morning. Around noon, they go to sleep and wake up after supper. Then around 10:00 they have their bedtime snack and lights out. I don’t hear them at all during the night, I suspect they sleep a good part of it.

Peony, my group does bunny 500’s from about 1-3am. And they live in our bedroom! LOLOLLL. We actually invested in an air purifier would runs 24/7 and thankfully blocks out the noise and makes a nice humming noise that we can fall asleep with instead.

Mine seem to sleep at night and in the afternoon. They wake up from 5-11am or so, and then about 7-11pm.
Each bunny seems to develop their own routine, I wouldn’t worry.

Our girls Keter and Cupcakes like to be all WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE early in the morning. XD But they love to sleep all day. If the sun is up it seems like the girls are asleep, or stretched out at the very least. The only one who seems to not follow a schedule is Voldemort…. If you walk by then he wants OUT, no matter what time it was or if he was asleep or not. Everyone else seems to sleep during the day and are most active in the evening. That is kinda how we are here at my house though so they seem to follow our schedule.
