Hey, I’m new here so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Ii have a house rabbit and I want to get her a friend but I’m a little concerned about if there is enough room for two. She currently has free reign of the flat where I live, which is mostly bunny proofed and where it isn’t she’s only allowed when I’m there but anyways, at night she has a cage which is big enough for her to lie down and move around in and a pen that wraps around the cage so she has room to hop around in the pen if she wants. Each panel is 60cm and there’s 6 so the perimeter of her pen is 360cm/3.6 meters.

Would you say that’s enough space and room for another friend during the night? Any tips/suggestions on space etc would be great

        Thanks

It’s hard to say from the measurements you posted, but two bunnies need 4×4 feet of cage space. It is good though that they have free reign, so cage space doesn’t matter quite as much, but I would still stick with at least 4×4. I would also see if you can bunny-proof the rest of your house so you don’t need to watch them.

60cm (1.96 ft) per panel and 6 panels total is not translating in my mind. Is it kind of hexagon or rectangle like shape? Can you take a pic?

Anyway the min. recommended habitat size for two rabbits would be 122cm (4ft) X 122cm (4ft) or 1.48sq meters. If you were to rectangle up the set up you have now it would be 60cm (1.96 ft) X 120cm (3.96 ft) and come out to about .71 sq meters (7.68 sq ft).

Which that math in mind you would need approx double what you have now. You could  get really close to the recommended size by adding two more panels.

thanks for the replies! Her run is currently in an L shape as the rooms long, it would fit more panels so i can buy more to make it suitable. Id post a pic but im not sure how.
Cage wise do you know anywhere i can get a big indoor cage? Ive thought about getting two but i wouldnt want to seperate them

They would need to be housed separately until they are bonded. So you would need two cages/habitat for at least a little while. There is also the possibility that the second rabbit might not be compatible with your current bunny. If that happens they would have to be housed separately for possibly their entire lives.

I’m not sure what country you are in and what is readily available (I’m in the US), I would say you probably get the most bang for your buck with X-Pens or NIC condos here… But I know in some places NIC’s are much more expensive.
