From some other threads, I thought it was interesting how my horse people are also bunny lovers! I would love to hear all about it! What disipline do you do? Do you have a horse? Ride a little? Show?  Photos are great too!

I have been riding for about 18 years! Wow that is crazy to say! I used to show a lot as a junior, but only do a few a year now. I show hunters and try to do the derbies. I also occassionally ride western and I used to work part-time for a company that gave hay and carriage rides. I love driving too!

I love horses too. I ride english but sometimes western (leading trailrides at my stable). I enjoy show jumping. My favorite types of horses are hanoverian geldings, irish sporthorses, and dutch warmbloods, although one of my best buds is a pinto

          (I’ll post a pic later )

I LOVE horses as well although I haven’t been able to ride since I moved to the city two years ago. We owned three horses during my childhood to 15 – two Appies and a Quarter. I road another horse between 15-23 that was a QH.

I LOVEEEE show jumping! And loved doing hunters as well. Although I grew up totally Western and my stepdad always tried to get me into barrel racing. Preferred English saddle most of the time though.

Is that your horse, MMK?? Gorgeous!

Ahh so cool to talk to everyone! Mocha, I look forward to photos. I love Irish sport horses too.

tanlover3239 It must have been awesome growing up with horses. I love Appies, I used to ride a lovely jumper who was one. Yes, that is my mare! She is lovely and even tolerates bareback gallops through the field. The bottom guy I am driving is not. I drove him while I worked for the driving company, but he was sold on. Loved him

Hi, horse peeps!!!! Beautiful Pics MMK!!!!

I’m a long time horse lover. Started riding at age 9 and I’m 32 now. Got my first horse at 16 and now I am the lucky owner/rider of a beautiful mare named Winnie. She’s a registered Morgan that I bought just before she turned 1. I knew her Sire and Dam and got to watch her birth. Winnie just turned 13 so we’ve been together a long time and have a wonderful bond. She’s a real doll and very calm and reliable. We don’t show, we just play and do trails mostly. In our younger days, we used to go out for 6 hour trail adventures. I ride English.

I used to show in the local English and Morgan circuits as a teenager but I find showing very stressful and expensive. I still love to go and watch.

I keep Win at a boarding stable and I go as often as life allows.  Haven’t been riding much lately since I’m pregnant but I still get up and do some light riding now and then.

I have so many nice pics I wanted to share but this stupid Mac computer won’t let me resize them so the only one I can post for now, is this older pic of the two of us.

                .

She is beautiful! I drove a Morgan X who was wonderful. I don’t know much about the breed, but they seem like great horses. I would have loved to see my mare being born! What a great experience.

I board out too…trying to find something a little closer to home because the trip to the barn is about 30 minutes. I moved to a more horsey area recently, so I have several boarding farms within 10 minutes of me, but I love my current place and am particular about care.

I love horses, but my mom would never let me take lessons because of what happened to Christopher Reeves. And now that I am an adult, it’s hard to find the time/money to start. But, one day! In the mean time, I will just admire your photos.

i love horses.  When I was growing up my Aunt across the street had a thoroughbred Easter.  She would ride me on her.  Don’t remember what happened to Easter.  Then she had Cochise an appie.  Stallion.  We would ride in around on him.  He was so gentle I would ride him in the pasture bareback no bridle just Aunt Melba’s word commands.  Then a guy moved down a ways had racehorse boarding etc. And the stallion Cochise wasn’t so easy to ride bareback and no bridle anymore.

Then Aunt got Nugget a golden quarterhorse mare.  She has a filly named Coget a combination of the  name of Cochise the father and Nugget the mare.

Aunt Melba also had rabbits.  lol.  I got my first rabbit from her.

As an adult my now ex had gotten me a beautiful registered Quarter horse who was part appie.  He was a beautiful chesnut 1 white sock perfect star and stripe. He was a  2 year old.  Broke him in gently.  Took our time.  He did beautifly.  Loved that gelding. Rode western nice places to ride near where I had him stabled.

Got rear ended 2x in 1 year thru no fault of my own.  Had a bad back to begin with but that did me in.  Couldn’t care properly for Johnny horse anymore.  Sold him to a wonderful person.  She fell in love with him.  That was in 1994.  I still think about him.

Haven’t ridden since.  Had 2 fusions and screws rods etc. I want to ride again anyway. Probably will be really sore the next day all that lower back movement.  I think it will be worth it.  I can dream can’t I .

Enjoy your horses.   You never know   I am happy for y’all.   The beautiful horses y’all have and the opportunities y’all have  Thats so great.

Me and my friend were talking about our favorite horse breeds today. I already said mine before (hanoverian gelding, irish sporthorse, and dutch warmblood) but what are all your favorites. I have a Irish Sporthorse, a Dutch Warmblood, and a Pinto Horse. I also help out at a horse rescue that rescues mainly abused and injured horses. They are all so beautiful (mostly throughbreds) and have great souls and I am terrified by people who do such horrible things to them.
My alltime favorite thing to do is showjump. I also do dressage, and I lead trail rides a couple times a week. I also like just racing bareback through the field
My stupid computer can’t seem to resize my photos but once I figure out how I’ll post some.

I love Morgans. I always wanted one. Because of their classy beauty, intelligence and versatility.

The mare I posted above is a Thoroughbred Cross, but I had her breeding approved with Rheinland Pfalz-Saar because I have always really liked the Zweibrücker breed. I love that they are large horses, with lots of presence, and a lovely big movement! I also really like Trakehners.

My new love of driving has also given me a love for standardbreds. An often looked over, but lovely horse!

My first horse was an STB. A retired trotter. She was stubborn as a mule but the most bombproof horse you would ever meet! She was scared of NOTHING. We even encountered a Momma bear and baby cubs a few feet in front of us on the trail and she stayed totally calm. She could also run like the wind! Back in my fearless teen days (way back…lol) friends and I used to have races along the marshes and we left them as little dots in the background. She was a lot of fun IF she felt like doing what I asked, if not, she would buck me off. She taught me how to REALLY ride and stay on a horse, after years of riding push-button lesson and show horses. Lots of great and scary memories with Tova. She lived to be 27.

They are very underestimated and often thought of as “ugly”. My mare was very pretty and most people thought she was a QH.

Aww love your story about your standardbred. The guy I drove was race trained, but never actually made it to the track. A trotter too. He was one of my favourite driving horses and I primarily worked with him for my time there. He was the sweetest, most gentle horse. He literally let kids hang all over him and would put his head down, so they could give him kisses. But he always had spunk when I had him out. The urge for speed never quiet left him and I think he thought most cars were a personal challenge. He had never been ridden (that we know of) and he let us just sit on him one day without a complaint.

I still breaks my heart that I couldn’t take him when he was for sale. I could have bought him, but board on another horse is totally unrealistic in my area. Even field board runs in the $300s +. I wish I knew where he is now!

Yes, it is such a shame that everyone thinks they are ugly! The guy I drove was anything but!
