My best bunny buddies are Charlotte, a female lionhead and Scooter, a male Dutch. I received Charlotte in 2009, when a friend of mine could no longer care for her. Charlotte is my first rabbit, and when I took her on, I knew nothing about rabbits. I never had an interest in rabbits, I always thought they made bad pets. But her picture was so cute, and I couldn’t let her be brought into a shelter. So I did all the reading and research I could about bunnies. I found that my first impression of pet rabbits was so wrong. Charlotte and I bonded slowly, but we made a strong bond. After two years, I was graduating high school, and I could not bring Charlotte with me. I found a no-kill rabbit rescue, and brought Charlotte there with the full intention of putting her up for adoption. When the owner heard my plight, she offered to board Charlotte while I was in school. Charlotte was boarded there for two years, until I transferred this last year to a university near home. Charlotte and I were reunited for about a year, then this April, the week after Easter, my cousin found a Dutch rabbit wandering near a boat launch at a park. Wish Charlotte as “bait” for the curious bunny, I was able to capture him and bring him home. I gave him the name Scooter, because it seemed to fit at the time. It really seemed to fit him the more I watched him and interacted with him, because I am always telling him to “Scoot!”  We were looking to adopt Scooter out initially, but his antics and good nature won us over. I was most won over when I saw that he had started bonding with Charlotte after his neuter. I had not seen her so happy in such a long time. All attempts to bond her in the past have failed. Because of her track record, they do not share a cage at night. They sleep in cages near each other, so they can see and smell each other, but far enough away that Scooter won’t irritate Charlotte.  When they are out playing during the day, they will nap together in the afternoon and groom each other. They like to follow  each other around the playroom too.

        Here is Charlotte

And this is our newest bunny in the family, Scooter.

Thank you! Right now I am on vacation to visit family for about two weeks. My boyfriend adores my rabbits, and I know they are well taken care of with him, but I miss them so much!

Awe. They are adorable Welcome! And how amazing that the rescue boarded her for you while you were in school. That is amazing! How incredible.

I love your avatar! I have a t-shirt with that on it.   I love wearing it, but sometimes I forget I have it on, and don’t understand people’s reactions. One time I was at the grocery store, and a fellow random shopper said, “What don’t you approve of?” I was bewildered, looked around like, What are you talking about, and finally said, “All looks okay to me!”, then she smiled and pointed to my shirt. Then I had the ah ha duffis moment. LOL.

The other time was when I was visiting my mother, who has Alzheimers, and every time I would go around her, she would say “I don’t approve”. Having no idea what she was talking about, and assuming it was her dementia, I would placate her and say, “Okay, mom, we’re workin on it”, but then later she intently stared at my shirt, and said, “Nope….Sir….I…don’t…approve!”, then she smiled and started laughing. I realized then what she had been doing all morning.

Anyway, thought I’d share as I love the avatar (It’s from DisapprovingBunnies.com)

That is adorable. My grandmother had dementia, she would do similar things. I really want a window sticker on my car of the disproving rabbit. It can go next to my Grumpy Cat one that just says “NO.” My rabbit, Charlotte, does not approve of anything. She could be the Grumpy Rabbit. I thought it was just her, but when I bought the 2014 Rabbits USA Magazine, they have that long article about Lionheads, and I guess it is very common for the does to be very temperamental. In Japan, they say pets take after their owners. Well, all my pets end up being snoots. I don’t know what that says about me. Hahaha!
