  So I went to my local shelter to do a meet and greet with a bunny I want to adopt. It went great! He is adorable and we seem to like each other Turns out he had been there for so long nobody wants him (poor little guy) any way we went to adopt him but they told us our cats need rabies shots. I was wondering what they do because one of my cats has never been to the vet and she is very skidish, the day we brought her home she wouldn’t come out from hiding for a month. I really want to know I have worried myself sick! Last night I had uncontrollable shakes and felt like I was gonna throw up. I just feel like this could have all been avoided thanks in advance. (I knows His is more cat related but I. Can’t get my. Bun without my cats getting the shots)

  Rabies shots, for a cat ? … Ummm can I suggest ringing the shelter and asking for a manager or supervisor and querying the directive…. It sounds like a load of bull shine from a dimwit who is a little too full of themselves. Either way, check it out with someone senior in the shelter…. and possibly look for a vet that does home visits.

  I’m getting him from cnyspca and our vet doesn’t do home visits he’s in the country and far out but he’s really cheap I’m just afraid it will hurt our cats

  MANY people give rabies shots to their cats. I doubt it will hurt them.

  It shouldn’t hurt them, rabies shots for cats are commonplace. It’s a 1cc shot that goes in the hind leg muscle. Same as they do dogs, just made for cats. They are inexpensive vaccines, usually around $10-15. Many times shelters do rabies shot clinics for cheap too.

  Ok cool thanks! my mom is going to call tomorrow to see if we can do it Tuesday and possibly get my bun Tuesday too.
