Has anyone experienced their rabbits attacking their food? My rabbit is a year old female and has never taken any interest in me eating until all of a sudden recently. I know rabbits won’t eat what is toxic or bad for them so I never thought there would be a problem. I was sitting on the couch one day eating a subway sandwich and my rabbit hopped up with me and started attacking my sandwich and nibbling at the bread. She wouldn’t stop doing it. Now every time I have food or she hears any type of food wrapper she hops over or attacks the bags to try to get to the food. I don’t let her eat it. She get lots of fresh vegetables everyday with her pellets and a little bit of fruit here and there. She is a very healthy and spoiled bunny. I was just wondering why she is doing this and if anyone else has had experience with this.

        Thank You

She does it because bunnies are little piglets! She is very smart and now knows you have yummy things and she wants them!
My bunny does exactly the same thing! The other day I was eating a bowl of Froot Loops (yes, I have the refined pallet of a 12 yr old), and he practically dove into my bowl to get some! This was pretty crazy and messy considering my bunny is huge and 16 lbs! And it’s not true that bunnies won’t eat what’s bad for them… they’ll eat whatever tastes good!! Especially bread, crackers or sweets!

Wow i’m shocked. I can’t believe they love human food. I never thought I would have a problem leaving food around her. Now I know. Too funny. Thank You for your quick response

My little guy Trigger is the same way. if I’m having a snack in the living room he will beg on the floor and if he doesn’t get some right away he will jump up into my lap and beg. If he doesn’t get any then he will just help him self even if it headed to my mouth. It’s kinda funny and doesn’t really bother me most people get a kick out of it.

My rabbit is picky when it comes to human food.

In fact she runs away from it and even thumping at me if I present her any ‘human’ food (did the thumping to anything with meat and ice cream) She would not even touch broccoli  that was “cooked” with Chinese food.

The only thing she takes interest that is human and somewhat bad for her is fortune cookies, cheerios, oatmeal (dry, she runs from it if it is watered/heated) and gummy candy (Though the other day she did not take interest in it)

Only time bunny attacks me for food is when I have a banana, god she goes crazy for bananas

Bunnies will eat things that are bad for them so you have to be careful.

My Olivia has a mega sweet tooth and if I’m eating anything that has the slightest sweet smell she climbs all over me to try to get it. When I have fruit, we share

Yue goes nuts whenever I have food. She wants all the food she can get her little thumpers on, including things she shouldn’t! I have to make sure i am out of reach whenever I eat now or else she is gong to be getting at least half wether I like it or not.

I have a post on here from not too long ago because she snatched a piece of an Avocado pit and she became very ill;( Be careful…
