So, he has a little bit of urine scald and some sores on his back feet. The vet said that the carpeting we have him on now is ideal and that we should get another carpet so we could switch them out so they can get really dry after washing.

Tank is continuing to lose weight, which the vet said isn’t that alarming, and he can probably get around better, but he said he is loosing muscle mass which worries him. He think he might be experiencing kidney failure, and he is going to research metacam to see if we should stop giving it entirely (we give him about .1 mL whenever we think he is having a really bad day).

Mulder and Scully are heavier, which makes me think that Mulder and Scully are eating Tank’s food. Pudd is down in weight also.

So, instead of bonding all 4, I think I am going to take Tank away from Mulder and Scully and place him with Pudd. Those two are the oldest rabbits and it will make it easier for me to monitor them all. It kind of breaks my heart to take Tank away from Mulder and Scully. I know he really loves them. But I think it’s the best thing to do for Tank.

I’ll be putting neosporin on his urine scald and vaseline on his sores and making sure to wash his butt more often. So that’s what’s going on now. The black spots on his skin turned out to be just hair regrowth :p

Aw poor darling. He’s got a bit going on.
          How old is he Zombie-Sue?

Is he the one you were getting treated for arthritis too?

For what it’s worth, I think your plan to do pairs is a good one. Multiples arent always the best option for every rabbit. Some don’t fare so well. He can always visit with Mulder & Scully. : )

          Sending (((vibes))) for lil Tank.

I feel for you and for Tank. I hope he’s at least somewhat comfortable.

I agree with jerseygirl, maybe just let him visit mulder & scully during day times & keep him with Pudd.
Really hope he gets to feeling better, I hope it’s not kidney failure. Keeping you in prayers!

He is approximately 8 years old. He also has cataracts forming. It seems like he just started getting old really fast =( It makes me kind of sad, I just keep getting the feeling that the end is near, but he is still happy and hoppy and has plenty of quality of life, I think I’m just a little down today. Thanks for all of your good vibes. He is the same one we were treating for arthritis,

I hope Tank gets to doing better. I hope he doesn’t have kidney problems either. I can imagine how you must be feeling. You are a good bunny mommy and I am sure you are taking good care of him. You are in my thoughts and I do hope Tank starts feeling better. =)

Poor guy – they will slow down at that age and especially being arthritic. I guess what I would say is keep him in the same area if you feel you must separate them so they can still keep each other company and see if that even shows any improvements – if not, then you may consider putting him back with his pals.

He is definitely getting up there in age but don’t give up hope – I’ve had rabbits live to 11, 12 years old and my friend has a rabbit who is 13 years old.

                        Now I know I’m missing threads. I swear the last I remember you were posting on bonding. I’m so sorry Tank isn’t well. {{{vibes for Tank and his kidneys}}}

I was bonding all four of them, but I stopped when Tank’s health began to decline suddenly. He seems like he’s doing pretty good now, still with his friends, but I will separate once I begin bonding him to Pudd. In between sessions, he’ll live in the same room still, but a different cage.

Glad you can keep him in the same room as his buddies. BTW – you made bonding seem easy. We had to give up trying to bond our pair plus one at least for a while. Kieko got too stressed.

Hope Tank and Pudd have a smooth and fast bond.
