My boyfriend and I tend to visit his parents at least twice a month (they live about 30 minutes away), usually leaving in the afternoon, staying the night, and coming back the next afternoon. The trips aren’t longer than 24 hours but I hate leaving Violet by herself so often! (If we leave for longer than 24 hours, I always have my neighbor come and check on her!)

So my question is – when leaving for around 24 hours, should we leave bunny boo at home or take her with us? Would she be more annoyed to be home by herself for a full day or to be moved around but with people?

        Thanks for any input!

I think she would be more comfortable at home in her own surroundings.

I always leave my girl home alone. It is a lot more stressful to leave the cat, because he goes around meowing at the top of his lungs looking for me and the dogs. He has severe separation anxiety. The rabbit wouldn’t give two poops about where I am as long as she gets her daily greens.

I agree with Sarita. If it’s for less than 24 hours, I’m sure she would rather not have to deal with the drive. As long as you have someone check on her and feed her meals.

I would leave her. Driving often is stressful and can cause issues.

KytKattin- ha! I totally understand for the cat.

Okay, thanks everyone! We’ll leave her here and ask our neighbor to check on her once while we’re gone. We don’t have enough room in our little apartment for an X-Pen… I would feel less bad leaving her here if we did! Her cage isn’t small, but it’s not huge either. But I guess 24 hours isn’t TOO long She’ll get lots of love when we get home!

How large is her cage? Just wondering.

This is her cage and the surrounding area. I think it’s about 4x2x2ft. She has enough room to hop around a bit, spread out/lay down, and periscope.

The square on the floor next to her cage is the trap door to the basement.

When we’re home, the left side of her cage is pulled away from the wall so she can come and go as she pleases.

I think it depends on the bunny. Some are confident and comfortable about going from one place to another and with a bunny like that I would probably bring them. Others don’t like the travel and are better off at home.

The space she’s in is quite small though. Can you get an xpen and set it up just when you’re gone, and fold it away when you’re home?

Elrohwen, that’s what I was thinking. I just need to figure out a way to set it up so that the cage is still inside of the xpen/figure out a way to attach the sides of the xpen to the walls or something.
