We are getting ready to install a new floating (not glue down) vinyl plank floor in our new bunny room. The vinyl planks are low VOC and supposedly environmentally friendly (made by Earthwerks). How long do I need to let the floor “air out” (if at all) before moving the buns into the room? Suggestionss?

        Thanks!

I don’t think you need to let it air out at all – if it’s safe for you, I think it’s safe for them.

Like the “new” smell. Don’t like the “new” cost. What started out as a little more bun space with a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet laid on top of the existing carpet and a condo has turned into 200 square feet of vinyl plank flooring for the room plus a 6 ft long and 6 ft tall condo with large play area. By the time we’re done, the damn thing may have running water and a bunny elevator! (hubby’s a plumber so the running water is a scary possibility and he actually used the words “bunny elevator” tonight!) One of us has got to get a grip soon! Now that we’re doing the floor in the whole room and not just the part the bunnies will live on, the bunnies’ part is going to be a bit bigger and hubby’s game area a bit smaller. (Hubby hasn’t figured that part out yet so I imagine he’ll be the first to get that grip on reason and reality!)

My whole house (all 1000sqft) is floating plank flooring. There was no smell at all after installation. And honestly, it has to be far more germ free than the nasty carpet that was here before with stains from who knows what! One thing the installer recommended was to buy a few extra boxes (because it was our whole house) so we can simply replace any planks that might get damaged. I guess because they are floating they are pretty easy to switch out, but if it is years from now they might not make that particular color/style anymore. So definitely save any usable leftovers or get an extra set if you can!

My husband is going to install it (never done this before) so I ordered the recommended 10% over PLUS an extra box!!!
