Hi people, First post on here. I have a rabbit called rudi who is 6 months old. She is a house rabbit and is litter trained. It all started last week when we let rudi out to play. She started to rub her chin off everything and do the toilet all over the floor. She had never done this previously before and only done the toilet in her cage. Been reading up on if and it looks like she needs spayed/neutered. Got her booked into the vets but was wondering if anyone knows if she will stop rubbing her chin and doing the toilet everywhere after her little op or will I have to retrain her to not do the toilet everywhere? Any help would be appreciated.

You may have to retrain her – every rabbit is different. Sometimes it can take awhile after spaying for her to relearn too – so don’t expect that just because she got spayed she will return to the same litter habits right away – it can happen but not always.

She may not stop chinning but that behavior doesn’t really mark anything that humans can tell.

Rabbits seem to chin stuff regardless of whether they are spayed/neutered. It probably reduces it a lot. Mine still chin stuff here and there, but they aren’t crazy going around saying “this is mine and this is mine and this is mine and this is mine….”

For the litter habits, some people find they improve right away post-spay/neuter. For some buns though, it might take a little bit. If that happens, it helps to go back to the basics to get them back on track.

Hi people. Thought I would give you an update. Took rudi to the vet this morning to get spayed. Just picked her back up and back in her home in our house. She seems to still be really sleepy. Put plenty of hay, food and water around her. I’ll just leave her to rest and check ur every half an hour. Will keep you posted.
