If you have a bunny room, what kind of flooring is in it? If you don’t have a bunny room but let your bunny run and play somewhere else, what type of flooring is in that area? If you have vinyl or wood (i.e. other than carpet), can your bunny binky on it? If carpeting, does your bunny chew it or pull at it?

        Thanks for your help!

My rabbit has an x pen but we basically let him out of his cage during the day (he goes to his cage when he needs to go potty in the litter box). Anyway, the flooring of our house is basically made up of tile. He seems to be happy and have binkied.

Hope I helped and answered your question!

With the exception of the bedrooms our house is covered in vinyl. This is what Henry was introduced to when he first came home and when we made his house/cage we put a layer of leftover vinyl on his floor. He shows no preference to the carpet in the bedroom (sleeping under the bed and hanging out when we are in there) or the vinyl in our living spaces where he/we mostly hang out. Henry binkies with ease no matter the room if the mood requires him to show his happiness. Sadly (for us) Henry doesn’t binky as much any more and I’m sure it’s cause he is free to roam. One thing that has caught us off guard (especially Henry, ha ha ha) is when Henry does ‘zoomies’ at extra high speed down the hall and leaves it too late to take a sharp left and he ends up sliding into/hitting the door at the end of the hallway, LOL! He has never hurt himself (except his pride when we laugh at him), and in the last few months has learned to take the corner nicely.
I have noticed Henry having a little chew on the carpet along with a dig but have never been concerned as our 20 year old carpet is crap! (maybe Henry is my excuse to replace it???? but then I would be MAD at him if he did it to NEW carpet, ha ha ha!). And this dam carpet is so horrible and worn but it continues to last and last……

My bunny room is linoleum, but I cover it with rugs and fleeces.

AH & JH — glad to know binkies and zoomies can be done on vinyl!

LEL — what kind of rugs? Do they chew on the rugs or push them around?

I need to decide on flooring for the new bunny areawill and am leaning toward vinyl but want the buns to be able to run & binky.

                Thanks!

                  Glad I could help!

Let me know how it turns out.
I’m sure your rabbits will be happy either way!

Mine are on combo of different flooring. Hardwood, linoleum, tile. All have rugs for areas to provide traction. I use flat weave cotton rugs. Some small and some larger (6’x4′).
I’m able to de-fluff these, vacuum and put in washing machine when needed.

I use rubber non slip may under them but they do move a little -especially with the trio.

It’s a lot of trial an error getting something that will work. Very much depends on the rabbit too. My advice is not to invest too much until you’ve gotten to know the habits of this new one. And as you probably know, this habits can change as they age! Especially in that first couple years.

I’ve used vinyl remnants for pens to protect flooring underneath. As long as the edges werent accessible, they were generally left alone.

I use regular carpet rugs as well as fleeces with bricks on the corners to keep them from digging. :0
