Well one of my buns is shedding a ton right now, and he has like huge tufts that come out really easily if I gently tug on them. It doesn’t seem to hurt him, but he usually runs away bc he gets nervous…

Since your bun bun is shedding, you should brush him every day. It is fine to pick the tufts of hair out but just make sure that they are ready to come out. That is the easiest way to do it in my opinion

My hubby does all the time – ha ha ha ha….. go for it! He just gives a gentle tug and if it comes out he goes back for seconds. If it doesn’t, he moves on to the next patch that pokes out. Have fun! (my hubby does till it gets up his nose). Cheers!

PS – If someone tugged on my bottom I’d run away tooooo! ha ha haha……..

I do this too. As long as it comes out easily, it should be fine. But you do want to brush your bunny every day during a molt.

Bunnies are so strange! I swear, I can brush Meadow thoroughly and then an hour later she has ten tufts sticking up!

Yes, you can, or you can brush them! I have an angora, and if I don’t “pluck” her when she’s ready she can get wool block(which can be fatal because they groom themselves and it gets in there stomach, so they feel full and don’t eat or drink. That’s what I’ve been told several times). My bun loves it! She’s glad to have the help of getting all the hot, extra fur off of her! Just be careful that you don’t pull too hard or yank out fur that isn’t ready, be gentle! I wish you luck!

One of my bunnies sheds a ton but doesn’t like being brushed or having his tufts pulled out. So I just pet his head with one hand (rubbing his cheeks, etc) while brushing or pulling with the other hand. It seems to distract him enough that he doesn’t notice the brushing/pulling.

Actually, I have to admit – there’s something oddly satisfying about pulling tufts, lol.

I pluck my bunnies all the time. Just don’t make the mistake I did once and get zoned out on the entrancing endless hair and accidentally try to pluck their tail! Dexter took all day to forgive me for pulling his tail XD

Mine seem to like when I groom them…but Rodan hates when I use the comb, he prefers if I pick it off. Maybe it’s a weird sensation to him. But yes, it’s fine if it’s loose!
