Mr Jingles has been chewing everything for the past few days especially the carpet.  It’s very odd since he never chewed anything for first three months I had him. He just started this two weeks after being neutered.  So I bought him this cat house hoping to deter him away from the carpet and it worked.  I don’t think he is eating much of the fabric just maybe a few small pieces.  Do you think it will be harmful to him?

No I don’t think so just as long as you watch him and make sure he does to get big chunks. My rabbit also started chewing like this after he was neutered two months ago before I got him neutered to he used to just run around and binky the whole time but now all he does is sits in a ball next to the cardboard and eats But I don’t think it will be bad I have heard of rabbit liking cat toys more than the toys made for rabbits

Does he have access to unlimited hay?

It may also be the hormones left from before his neuter, it may calm down. Glad he likes the cat house though!

Yes Mr jingles has access to unlimited hay but he really doesn’t eat as much as he should.  I have tried every kind of hay and nothing changes he just picks at it and only during the night for some reason.  He is 6 months old and weighs almost 7lbs.  He is a satin rabbit and the vet believes he will be on the larger side.  I feed him tons of hay, about 4 cups of greens a day, and he gets a little over 1/4 cup of pellets a day.

It sometimes takes awhile for them to figure out that chewing is fun. It could be leftover hormones, or it could just be a young bunny having fun. They usually grow out of this as they get older, or it at least lessens. Make sure your bunny proofing is top notch and give him alternatives to chew.

Best solution I found was to give mine lots of interesting things to chew AND put them in strategic places. Rabbits do “housekeeping”…they like to move things around.

also, they, as prey animals chew and move anything that is in their way of a clear path to run, or, if they were burrowing, in their way of making a burrow. So get on your hands and knees and think like a rabbit. Anything along walls, behind furniture, in their through ways will be chewed. So that is where I put branches, pine cones, paper towel rolls, etc. It’s in his face, so he chews it or moves it. Keeps him busy!

Also, you can go to the UPS store and get long/tall boxes that are basically bunny tunnels. put some things in there that he has to chew and move to get from one end to the other etc. Mine thinks he is doing important work getting these issues sorted out, he takes it VERY seriously!

Two weeks post-neuter sounds like it is his hormones are going wacky. I like to call it the post-neuter crazies. Hehe! He will likely calm down in a couple more weeks.
