My 8 week old rabbit has a big lump/scab on the top of her front foot. It had a little pus yesterday but now it is dried. I never noticed any bleeding. There wasn’t blood anywhere on her cage and I didn’t notice it until yesterday. I got her last wednesday so I’m not sure if something happened before or after I got her. She is eating, drinking, pooping and peeing and is still very active. Should I take her to the vet, or wait to see if it heals? She has also been kind of sneezy since I got her.

I would take her to the vet. Especially if there are other symptoms like the sneezing and puss with it. She sounds okay if she is still actively eating and pooing, but then again buns can be good at hiding issues. It might just be a simple wound, but she may need meds. Better to be safe than sorry.

How much does a check up usually cost? And could it be mites? I read online and it said sometimes scabs are from mites. I kinda checked her fur and didn’t see any mite poop though. We have a cat too. She is never outside so I know they wouldn’t be from her. I’m worried she will give them to the cat if it is mites. I got my rabbit from a breeder, and they had ducks, chickens, goats and other animals.

It shouldn’t be too much for something small like that. Call around where you live and find the best price, BUT be sure they do a lot of care for rabbits.

You can search on this site for recommended rabbit vets in your area. Yeah, the vet will be able to figure out if it is mites or something else, that way you don’t have to guess. It’s just better to get it figured out than to wait it out and have it possibly get worse

Well the only place in the area that I found that seems rabbit savvy isn’t open until tomorrow. I’ll have to call in the morning.

Doesn’t have any vets in my area on rabbit.org. Amarillo Texas is huge, but animal wise there is like nothing here or close by. =/ Hopefully the place I found will be good.

Well give that vet you found a call and see if they have experience with buns. Otherwise, you may have to drive a little farther to find a good one because it’s important that the vets know rabbits. You know? Also, you are going to want to know where to trust for future reference as well.

You can give them a call in the morning, I don’t think it’s something so serious that waiting until morning would be dangerous.

I found this…might offer so more options for you.

Also, this one says they treat rabbits.

Could she have gotten it caught and skinned it? You said there was no blood, but it was oozing a bit? Then it scabbed over. To me, that sounds like a scrape. It isn’t an emergency, but it looks like you are heading to the vet today. That’s good since she needs a wellness check anyway. She’s a new bunny and it’s always a good idea to have new pets checked out just to make sure they are healthy.

Took her to the vet and she had a tiny bit of discharge from her nose and she has been having little sneezing fits. They put her on liquid baytril for 2 weeks. I read and some places said it could be snuffles.. how do I know if it is that serious?

I noticed it’s been several days now. How is she doing now? Have you noticed any improvement since starting the antibiotics? (don’t forget to make sure to continue to use for the entire 2 weeks, even if she seems completely well before finishing the course)
