Is it normal for a bunny to farm around and try to eat well – near everything?

I found Licorice eating a MINT one of the kids dropped even! (One of those little pillow mints you see at baby showers and whatnot.)He goes insane about cereal in particular. He hears us getting it and comes running. Loves Cheerios, Life, Shredded Wheat, etc. I’m forever telling the kids – do not let him try to eat that! I mean – my house is clean. I have kids though. He will sit at their feet while they eat waiting like a dog. He’s gotten bold about the cereal too. He hops right up on the table and will snitch out of bowls. I have to make sure he is in his cage now at breakfast time.

I’ve had a cat that did this (that little chubb ate ANYTHING food related.) Never dreamed a bunny would do it. I’m thinking the cereal thing might be a universal bunny like. Chipper likes Cheerios too – it’s how we lure him out from under the couch if he’s being ornery.

It is perfectly normal. But as you have figured out, it’s not good for him. I think you’re handling it well by telling your kids not to feed him everything he wants. A dropped jellybean or mint or peanut etc won’t do him a lot of harm (most likely none at all, unless he has an extremely sensitive stomach).

Rabbits tend to love the plant mint so a mint-lozenge probably seemed like a gift from heaven to him =)

Some bunnies like to eat non-food items as well, like wall-paper, towels, rubbery things, broom-bristles and carpet and t-shirts (if it’s penetrable with teeth, bunny can eat it). That’s also sth you might want to look out for.
