My bunny Smokey has been sick since last weekend.  I took him to the vet on Monday and she gave him drops for an eye infection and subcu fluids because he had stopped eating, peeing, and pooping last weekend.  I have been feeding him Critical Care all week.  I took him back to the vet on Thursday and got Metoclompraminde to help get his digestion moving because I really wasn’t seeing any improvement. He is basically the same, taking about 1 tbs. of Critical Care about 5 times a day, eating some greens and a few pellets on his own, will only eat a couple pieces of hay if I hand feed it to him, and just pooping a small amount once or twice a day.  My question today though is that when I am feeding him his Critical Care, I hold him with one hand under his chest and I feel a rumbling for a few seconds every once in a while.  I am wondering what this is and, of course, is it a bad thing or a good thing?  It’s kind of like his body trembles or rumbles a little bit and it seems to be coming from his stomach.  Is it just the food moving through his stomach or something else?

Tummy sounds can be caused by gas or lack of food. Can you get some simethecone to give him to break up any gas he may have? I don’t think 5 tbs is enough food per day, you need to feed him at night too.

Thanks for your reply.  I was wondering about using simethecone.  I’m just not sure if there would be any interaction with the medication he is currently on.  I guess I could call the vet Monday and ask to be sure.
