So I feel really bad because I haven’t been able to let my bunnies out and run around this winter.

Lately they have had a behavior change which may be nothing or maybe i should watch more carefully. They lay down a lot …like a lot and they have started to lay down and eat and groom themselves. Just like humans become couch potatoes I’m wondering if this is because they kind of got fat and thus lazy or they are ok. They eat and drink regularly

        ADDED DETAILS:

I don’t let them out much this winter. My room has to many danger cords. Usually I let them run in the basement but I am at school full time so its been hard to find time. Once the snow melts i let them run around in their giant pen outside but the snow has to melt first.

I don’t know their age or much history about them  (I rescued them from my  niece who neglected to feed and water them)

An yes I know the cage is small for two rabbits but I have to re- potty train them the cage is higher with shelves so they don’t have to sleep in their litter boxes if they dont want.

This is lumps and dumps and they look like this a good half of the day lately

It may be just because they are getting older. I would see if you can get more grids or something to give them more room to run around.

Could be that it’s just their new routine – you might just have to encourage them to come out. How big is your current cage by the way?

I can’t really tell by the picture, since I’m on my phone right now, but is there any type of bedding on the bottom of the cage? Having nothing on the bottom helps with the litter training process. Since they are housed in the basement area are you going to set up an x pen eventually? They look like sweet bunnies

The cage is 1 wide two long but it goes up 3 levels that they can jump on. It use to be one of those huge cages like in the building a cage section on this site. But when I got the second bunny the first one untrained itself . Thanks for the advice everyone

Is there any possible way you can make it bigger? Levels don’t count for space.

I think 1 wide is too small. I would increase the cage layout – it’s not big enough.
