My Betty is feeling sick today. This morning everything was normal, she was up by 6:30 and started digging in her cage, so I let her free. Around 9:00  she was napping and I tought all was normal but she was switching position a lot and not sleeping in her favorite places.

I think it could be gas. My other bunny Valentin was acting like that one afternoon three weeks ago, he was drinking but not eating since the morning, but in the night he was already feeling better and in the morning he was jumping and happy. When I went to the vet the next morning, she said he still had a bit of gas and gave me cisapride for him. He never acted like that again.

I had a bit of cisapride left that I kept in the fridge so I gave Betty a dose, but she still seem sick. She peed on the floor and was lying in it when I came to see her. The vets are not open until monday and maybe she’ll do like Valentin and get better really fast, but I’m still worried. Her ears are cold, just like Valentin’s when he was sick.

Should I still give her the doses of cisapride I have left, it’s 0.4 ml two time a day? What can I do to make her feel better? I don’t want to touch her too much, I just cleaned her pee and let her nap in her fresh litter box. I didn’t saw her drink. She had parsley and coriander to eat last night and a tiny bit of pineapple.

She’s eating, so that’s good! Are there any emergency vets open on the weekend? I know I have trouble trusting a different vet from the usual with my buns, but an emergency vet could give you some idea of what to do until Monday. I know there are very few emergency vets who specialize in rabbits, but they would have at least some knowledge.

I would just recommend monitoring the food intake. If she still isn’t drinking, you could rinse some leafy greens and serve them to her while they are still wet to get her some water.

As long as she’s still eating/pooping, then I wouldn’t rush her off to the emergency vet yet. If it’s gas, you can try giving her some simethicone and doing belly massages.

It was an other bunny mystery… she woke from her nap this evening and was hopping around the living room, eating, drinking and came to see me on the couch. It was a very drastic change, I will still look a lot after her but at least I’m not so worried. Her temperature seems good too.

It was probably just a little bit of gas then. =)

                  That’s so good! I’m glad she’s alright!
