Anyone tried this product? Today I went shopping for alfalfa hay for my bun and couldn’t find any. I prefer buying in person in small amount before ordering online. I bought a alfalfa ring but turns out it’s 70% meadow hay 30% alfalfa hay. Then I bought this cube thing. It’s suppose to be 100% sun dried alfalfa but I’m not sure if it’s got any added stuff or is it just as nutritious as alfalfa hay.

        Ingredients: Sun cured alfalfa hay.

Guaranteed Analysis: crude protein (min) 15%, crude fat (min) 1%, crude fibre (max) 30%, crude ash (max) 9%, moisture (max) 14%.

I’m not sure what the min/max is for and what on earth is sun cured? So you think they’ve added flavourings to the cubes? Unlike alfalfa hay, the label says to give 1-2 cubes per day depending on bun’s size, and to use this product as a treat.

Alfalafa is generally used as a treat in adult rabbits, it’s generally given to babies or elderly as it’s a legume and higher in calcium and calories. I suspect that’s why it said to feed as a treat. If the only ingredient listed is hay I think it’s ok, but you can probably call or email the company for verification.

Looks like I’ll need to get more alfalfa hay instead of using these cubes. My bun’s ignoring it, and going crazy on the alfalfa ring instead of sleeping. I’m wanting to order the Oxbow alfalfa hay but the reviews are mostly saying it’s more dust than hay… I’ll give it another day to see if she eats the cubes.

Don’t worry about reviews you only ever see people who love or hate a product, they aren’t unbiased Oxbow is a really good brand.

They hay on the BB site is really good-nice soft green hay and lots of different varieties-you might try that.

Oh-I missed it maybe-but why do you do alfalfa only? Young bunny?

I’ve been feeding meadow hay and trying to give alfalfa instead. Bun is about 13 weeks old and has a lot of growing up to do. She’s ignoring the cubes and only once chewed at it for less than 10 seconds. Maybe the cubes were processed so not as fresh or being kept in a pet shop affected the smell?
