Pip is about 6 months old and he was neutered a month ago, and now his new favourite thing is to pull towels or clothes off the radiators and drag them by digging (thus pulling them backwards towards himself out the door) and sliding until they reach the hall! It is the first thing he does in the morning when we let him out his pen, he runs into the bedroom and finds any clothes left on the floor (preferably my jumper) or on the radiator, and he quite rapidly dig/slides on them out of the room… then abandons them and goes back for another. He will do this till all the clothes he can find from the bathroom and bedroom are in the hall. He never steals clothes from the hall radiator or moves anything out of the hall, he just seems to want to put all our towels and clothes he can reach in there! He does like digging and sliding on the bed but we can’t let him much because he likes to pee there… but he has absolutely no interest in anything we give him to dig and slide on in his pen or even in the living room where he spends most of his time. It is purely taking clothes from the other rooms to the hall that he likes to do!

I know I should just stop taking jumpers off in the night and chucking them on the floor till morning, but I find it quite funny watching my little maid “tidy up” my mess

I just wondered if anyone else had a bunny that did this, and maybe you found a way to let him pursue this interest in his own space?

This is hilarious. Sorry I don’t have any advice for you to curb this, hopefully someone else will. The best I can do is tell you that I had a dog that had a sock fetish. We nicknamed him sockdog. If he heard the word “sock”, he’d jump up and start looking all over the house for socks. He did NOT limit himslef to only dirty socks either, so freshly laundered socks needed to be put away immediately. I eventually decided to just have him help me gather for laundry days. He was great at finding those odd socks that the hubby would just drop anywhere.

Maybe you can have Pip help do laundry?

Well i did have a bunny that would like to take my rugs into his cage and just lay on them… I dont know how he did it because those rugs would be fairly heavy for him.. Maybe they were more comfortable or something..

That’s funny! My Bridge bunny, Stormy used to love taking clothes and towels and bunching them all up under himself. Not sure why they do that. I suspect it’s a burrow digging related behavior. He also used to leave little teeth mark holes on my clothes.

Well I’m glad that sharing this has given you all a wee laugh! I laughed so much a sockdog

This morning Pippin did the same thing, but got distracted once he had gotten my jumper halfway out the room because he decided to do the bunny 500 from the living room into the bedroom, onto the bed, over me, down and out to the living room and back and over the bed again haha. I just had to lie there flat on the bed whilst he sprinted around and over me, punctuated by a thump every so often to let me know he was coming! So apparently stealing clothes just wasn’t as exciting today!

We did try giving him socks but he has no interest in them, he only likes the bigger items and hand towels, a blanket is too big, he seems to just have a jumper fetish. My fiance asked if maybe Pip was a girl because it was like he was taking clothes to make a nest, then I reminded him we just had his poor wee privates cut off a month ago lol.

I agree that it’s just his natural digging instinct, I just wish we could offer him something as fun as he finds this to do in his pen at night, but he just isn’t interested in any digging boxes or towels of blankets in there. What he does like is picking toys up and putting them all in his litter tray (ugh!) or anything we put upstairs in his hutch (he has a hutch and pen) he picks up and throws down the ramp. Literally anything. Even if it is too big to fit, he will try and get it down that hole! He was very naughty today too and picked up my cuddly toy bunny by the ears and chucked it off the bed, wee rascal…

Harvey had a thing for my clothes and shoes. I first found him going after the fury clothes pile in my bedroom. More recently I dropped a shirt in his dining room area and he loves it. I had worn it already and it was an old one so I’m sure part of it is the smell. He’s not really into clean towels or anything. The short is one I only bummed around in because I don’t like it much so is his now. I was just looking into it because he’s now grabbing my slippers, digging at them, and moving them. Dogs and cats love things with your scent on them so I’m not really surprised, but is interesting to see the digging side of their personalities being brought into it. My guy doesn’t like the dig box I made him either so I’m happy he’ll at least use an old t shirt
