        Hi all!

I just wanted to share this with you…
This is my first setback since Arya and Frodo moved in.

I have bought a new litterbox and some other things and tonight I was planning to introduce it to Arya and Frodo but things have backfired.

I was tending to my bunnies first, giving them food in their activity balls filled with food that they love to push around. Then I hand feeded them a bit more after I swiped up the poops in the cage. They jumped on my lap and everything. Then it was playtime and I put in a cardboard box with a hole cut out. All great, they are exploring and binkying.

Then I go get the new litterbox since they outgrew their old one. Frodo was inside on the floor level having a drink. Arya was outside doing her thing. I put the litterbox on the floor and I immediately could feel something was off. Arya sniffed it but didn’t have her usual curiosity. I tried to see if the litterbox fit through the little opening of the floor level and then Frodo freaked out. He startled all te way upstairs into their closed off little hutch and started stomping. By this time Arya was crouching behind the cage.

        uh-oooh….

Tried to lure them by shacking their little food box and…nothing. They usually come running for it. Then I go get a veggie treat they like and…nothing. Arya was afraid to come to me.

So I peeped into the little hutch where Frodo was to have a little check if he was not hurt, and then I just went outside of the room, taking all foreign and new elements with me.

Arya took the chance to run inside their house. She first ran all the way upstairs but is now sitting on the floor level by the water bottle. Frodo is sitting in the little corner litter box on the first floor and is out of the hutch.

Them being spooked, spooked me! But I tried to stay calm and I’m giving them an hour or so to settle down.

I should’ve swiped the new litterbox with water and vinegar, d’oh!

I left the door of the cage open so they can go outside. Keeping an eye on things from my living room without being too conspicuous.

Any more tips on how to handle this are welcome! Thx

Maybe still a bit early but maybe puberty is starting to kick in.

          Crisis over :p
Went to make my peace and they both jumped on my lap for tidbits and didn’t spook when I put my hand in the cage.
          Ooofffff!!!

I wouldn’t worry too much, I spook my bunnies on occasion and they settle down eventually. If you’re really worried, maybe pick them up and take them somewhere quiet for some petting to calm them down.
