Hello there, my first post as I’m at a loss what’s going on with my 18 month old female cross.

We have 2 house rabbits and while the older male cookie has always been in and out of the vets with various ailments over the last six years, poppy has always been fit as a fiddle, she’s always been good eating her hay and greens and isn’t a fussy eater in the slightest. However in the last 3-4 weeks she’s decreased her food intake massively and obviously less out the other end. Initially we thought she had a bit of stasis and so popped into our vets to get her checked out. Our vet said her gut wasn’t moving and we were given Zantac and Emeprid as usual and we also gave her critical care for a few days. Having been through stasis numerous times with our male we assumed she’d be back to normal in no time but 3 weeks on she still has little appetite. Our vet carried out an X-Ray on her teeth last week and an exam while she was under and found nothing wrong with her, he also took bloods and again nothing amiss. Apart from the lack of eating and reduced pooping she is 100% herself, there is no sign of pain, we’ve kept her on the medication just in case but are worried as we have no idea what is wrong.

one thing I’ve noticed is she seems more tentative than usual when biting food, but the dental came back clear.

Any suggestions would be helpful thanks.

        Neil

          Is she maintaining her weight?

Nope, she’d dropped from 3.1kg to 2.7kg in 3 weeks.
Also noticed that when she is chewing hay her teeth make a squeezing noise like a hinge that needs oiling?
