Is it normal for a bunny to sleep stretched out on her side like she is Dead..i can’t tell you how often she does this and it scares me everytime, i always have to startle her awake because im so nervous something happened to her when she looks like that..im not joking the first time i saw her doing it i made my husband check because i thought it was going to be BAD

Yes it is a sign of a happy, relaxed bunny who feels safe enough to deeply sleep! Mine flops onto his side or sometimes just rolls over onto his side to sleep. So don’t worry and no need to panic

Scary the first time you see it, but completely normal!

OMG JackRabbit!  You weren’t kidding, they do look sooo much alike!

Maybe it’s a built in defense mechanism… appearing dead when really sleeping.

Yes they do. I swear you have the picture is your sig mis-named. It should say “Moshi” not “Bumpy”! One of these days I’ll catch Mosh on the same position and get a decent picture so you can really see the similarities. I know torts look very similar, but the markings on these two are so much alike!

Haha yes, it’s actually really cute when they do it once you know they’re OK. Powder will flop down so hard you hear a *THUMP* and then just pass out.

Ellis is just starting to let us see him flop, and we love it. It means he’s feels very secure in his environment, so it’s a very positive sign that you’re doing the right things for your bun.

(FWIW, my husband and I had the same sort of fear when our kids first slept through the night…”Why didn’t the baby wake up in the middle of the night? You check. No, you check. No, you check…is he/she still breathing?”….sneak into the baby’s room…hold our breath until we see him/her breath or twitch. )

Just to agree with the others yes your bunny is fine…. just a sleepy little bunny, also Caleb looks so much like the binkybunny brown and white rabbit. I was like “wait why is Caleb posing for binkybunny products?”

My girl Leia not only flops a lot while sleeping, I’ve even caught her sleeping with her mouth open and twitching like she’s dreaming! Scared the crap outta me first as well, as my boy Reno just sits. But it’s perfectly normal, just strange I know!

Mordecai will just flop over like he’s been shot. Weird the first couple times, but you get used to it.

Haha yep. Congrats! You now have a very happy sleepy bunny butt you almost have to be warned ahead of time for the first bunny flop.

I had read about bunny flops before I saw one irl. It didn’t help, I still thought my bunny had dropped dead.

I still think it looks scary. I mean, this time he maybe IS dead?

LOL bam, I know exactly what you mean. You KNOW that he’s flopped, well pretty sure… probably… but what if he’s not this time?

Lol oh of course LLLB! Lulu will never sit or lay to get her picture taken because if I get too close to take the picture she will run to me and expect a treat or ear rubs.

My bunny does the same thing. The first time I saw him in that postion, I thought the worst. Even now, I still get concerned.

I’ve lost 3 rabbits in my lifetime. So when I see one of my rabbits all stretched out n they’re side, I freak out and check on them immediately. Turns out they’re just resting lol. They cause me so much stress but it’s worth it to have such great pets.
