Both of my male rabbits are shedding like crazy, with spring coming and all I understand it’s normal but this is getting out of hand. I’m slightly allergic to their dander so as long as they aren’t shedding too much I’m fine, but now that they are literally shedding enough fur to make another rabbit, it is hard for me to breathe around them. And if I hold them and then touch my face at all I get itchy eyes. This is very hard for me because I can’t give them the attention they need without feeling like crap afterwards. I’ve taken them outside a few times for brushings but no matter how much I brush them it seems like it isn’t even helping, like where is all this fur coming from! I’ve even bathed them in hopes that it would all come out in the water, but they absolutely hated that so I probably wont ever do that again.
Will this shedding stop soon, and if not is there anything else I can do?

Also, my 7 month old lionhead isn’t shedding at all. Although she is kept in my room which is always a lot cooler than the room my males are in.

It’s spring, animals that shed are doing it now, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc… they have all of that thick winter coat to get rid of. All you can do is keep brushing them and, make sure they have plenty of hay and water.

Well that and be clad it isn’t a wolfdog. I have two of them and sweep/pick up a grocery sack of fur from them daily. Just the spring round fo animals blowing their coats. Is there nothing you can take for your allergies until the worst of the molt is over?

As for bathing, it isn’t a good idea to bathe rabbits, they can get ear infections and other problems from being bathed. Just use unscented baby wipes if they need cleaned (which shouldn’t be often.)
