Hi everyone, I’m new here and just became a bunny mommy and I need a little help. My Holland Lop just got spayed on Sunday (3/16/14) and I just noticed her incision site is a bit bloody. I have noticed her licking the area a few times and I try to stop her but there’s not much that I can do since I can’t tell if she’s just grooming around or not. She’s been a little hyper now that she’s feeling better and I worry about her cut opening up. Should I worry about her incision having a little blood around it? What signs should I look out for? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I would mention it to your vet. She most likely irritated it. Your vet may want to see her to check for infection and fit her with a cone if she is not willing to leave it alone. Wearing a cone is not pleasant but it’s necessary for some bunnies until they heal up enough so they can’t do any damage.
